If You Love Jigsaw Puzzles...,

This review is from: Puzz3D CD: The Orient Express (CD-ROM)
I have always loved jigsaw puzzles. But this is the first time I have ever put one together on a computer. Puzz 3D Orient Express has 4 difficulty levels, from easy to super-challenging. I started off on the third level which is the challenging level. That level is just as challenging as the 1000-peice puzzles you buy in the store. The only difference is this: once you put the puzzle together, the fun doesn't stop. The difficulty level you choose determines how much of the Orient Express you can explore. You get to meet all kinds of different people as well as learn about the history of the train. Plus, during the exploration phase, there are other games along the way as well as clues to a mystery guest who is supposed to board the train. I haven't finished the exploration portion yet, but I am already thinking about going back to rebuild the train at the super-challenging level. This way, I will have unlimited access to the entire train. This Puzzle is very addictive and fun.

Puzz 3-D: The Orient Express,

Of the four puzzles, this one was my least favorite. It was harder to tell the different sections apart, but I did manage to assemble it finally. Once the train was complete, the mystery was great. Make sure you look high and low or you will miss clues.

This is the last of the puzz 3-d puzzles that are now on the market that I have completed. The puzzle is fantastic and the games on the train are fun. It seems to me however, that the mouse action used to get around the train was a bit slower and harder to use than the other games. Even at that, I had a great time trying to figure out the tiles and prophecies for each passenger. Even though I have finished all four of the games, I still go back and try to put the puzzles together again!

Updated controls, but...,

I've enjoyed the previous three CD-ROM 3-D puzzles that Wrebbit has produced, and this one has all the things I liked: the jigsaw puzzle to assemble on screen, then touring the constructed building's rooms (in this case, train compartments), then solving the mysteries and brain teasers provided. On this fourth product, Wrebbit has changed the look of the on-screen buttons and controls to be more streamlined. But so far, having just completed the "easy" level, I am a bit disconcerted by this new disc's technical glitches (as compared with the older discs): I keep getting glimpses of levels I am not supposed to have access to yet and the cursor that is provided to maneuver me inside the compartments does not have the flexibility or speed control of the previous discs. I would not suggest this particular puzzle over the Bavarian Castle or the Victorian Cottage, either of which seems to play better than this one.

This is the third 3D puzzle I have purchased, only one, Notre Dame Cathedral gave me no problems. All others had errors, crashes(blue screen). Tech support tried but had no answers.I have new computer and all the stuff to run games. So I will never again buy 3D puzzles. I don't know what's wrong,it's a great idea. Notre Dame was fun,but the other two! Maureen Ferrugia unhappy with 3D

Loved the assembly portion of this puzzle, but when I did the Superchallenging level and finally got to tour the train, but I have WIndows 7 and the program crashes as soon as I start the tour. Every time. So sad.

Several years ago, I purchased all Wrebbit 3D games for the computer and somehow lost the Orient Express DVD. This was a replacement purchase. I only wish they would produce more games. Amazon service is the best!

I've played the following Puzz 3D CD puzzles: Orient Express, Neuschwanstein Bavarian Castle, Notre Dame Cathedral, Victorian Mansion, and Lamplight Manor. For the most part, especially when you can play them on a Windows 98 machine with the appropriate QuickTime version and system requirements, the games execute very smoothly. I've enjoyed hours of puzzling heaven, sorting my pieces, moving from easy to hard levels, and playing the "solve the mystery" games that unlock once you finish your assembly. I've so much enjoyed them that I've been looking for years for new versions, pleading with Wrebbit to continue porting their great "real" 3D puzzles to the virtual, electronic format. If you enjoy jigsaw puzzles, you'll absolutely love putting together these beautifully crafted electronic versions as well.
They have great sound effects, zoom feature, and uniquely appropriate difficulty levels. They've even created a wonderfully rich, beautiful, and peaceful environment for assembling the puzzles. Whoever came up with the "put the puzzle together" software obviously loved the jigsaw puzzle pastime themselves. I highly recommend these puzzles, but make sure you have the correct computer versions to play them on. They're well worth the money.

1. I really didn't expect the Orient Express to be quite so Pricey. I have in my possession a box with 4ea computer puzzles, The Orient Express, The Bavarian Castle,Notre Dame Cathedral and Victorian Mansion. I cannt be certain now but I dont think I paid as much for the four Puzzle as you are charging for the one.
2. I have had it for longer than two years and when I bored and want somthing to do I pick one and start all over again. It was put out by the same company WREBBIT. I would rate them as the best game I have found for computer enthusiast. My friend is very happy with their gift. 3. The package was a little beatup when I got it but the game works great. This makes me fell like I'm ealing with a reputable Company. I willl order again in the future. |
