Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 2. A book with minimal plot and cartoon illustrations, seemingly adapted from an animated television show. The dialogue sounds like a Grade-B movie. Readers learn that a group of kids who call themselves the Puzzle Club solve mysteries, but little else. In this episode, a man is accused of stealing the town's parade money and Nativity scene. It turns out he's hiding in an abandoned house, found, of course, by the Puzzle Club. He had given the parade money to a carnival man for an unexplained reason, and then went into hiding when the man ran off with it. Because he missed Christmas, he took the town's creche and set it up in the abandoned house. But thanks to the Puzzle Club kids, he is found and reminded that "Jesus gives you a fresh start." All ends well. Why anyone would want this title is the real puzzle here.
