2.0 out of 5 stars No for the faint hearted
This book is only for those quilters who enjoy taking hours to
design a block and then more hours to do a lot of individual cuts
in percise areas in the fabric. I would recommend it only for the
advanced quilter with time on her/his hands.

I was tired of pastels and traditional patterns, finding them boring and predictable. These quilts allow you to use your creative skills, mixing and matching patterns, colour and shades. If you are not feeling so creative you can easily copy the designs in the book.

This is an excellent book for those of us who have those unusual fabrics that we don't know what to make. The instructions are clear and concise. The pictures look like a complicated block but the construction is very easy. I made blocks for pillows and the construction was easy. It is also good for making short projects like purses. It's a Must Try!

4.0 out of 5 stars Puzzle Quilts, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Puzzle Quilts: Simple Blocks, Complex Fabrics (Paperback)
I liked this book a lot. This book definitely produces blocks that look like kaleidoscopes. However, it requires a lot of time at the fabric or quilt store to get the best results. Therefore using fat quarters and scraps won't work. I also think that it is for a more experienced quilter.

A wonderful book, but a little hard to understand at times. This is a book that needs quiet time, much concentration to complete the complex fabrics to make them look like something. The illustrations are beautiful as are her fabrics. A little more complicated than I would do all of the time, but something wonderful to create for my collection of quilts.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to those attempting the intracies of Paula Nadelstern's techniques. I now have four of her books and perhaphs I should have purchased this one first as it gives the basics of making kaleidoscopes.
Using this book would have been a great way to start off!
