Until 7 weeks ago I had no reason at all to know anything about this product. That changed when a very severe case of BPH struck me out of the blue and my life turned into a 24/7 misery. I had All the symptoms. Not only was my prostate swollen at least twice it's normal size but I had the urge to go every 5 to 10 minutes and with all my efforts could only manage a few drops here and there. Couple that with a horrible burning thru the urethra and a MAJOR dull/sharp/burning ache up the wazoo and you start to get the picture.

I did see a doctor. I saw TWO of them. I went to the Urgent Care in our area and was given both antibiotics and Flomax. Neither relived my symptoms after 2 weeks use. The Flomax actually caused me MORE problems and I discontinued use on my own, swearing to never touch it again. I saw my primary care doctor and he too said it was BPH and I needed to stay on the Flomax no matter HOW sick it made me feel, etc. Phooey! I had been suffering with my symptoms for almost 3 weeks when I got online and started doing my own research, which is what I SHOULD have done from the start.

After a full day online (and sitting at my computer caused the pain to increase) I hit upon Pygeum and also Saw palmetto. I first ordered this Swanson Pygeum and started right in with two capsules, twice a day. I took them with my breakfast and dinner. I eat at the same time each day so it was easy to keep track.

THIS IS WHERE MY STORY GETS INTERESTING: Within 24 hours my relief began. BY the next morning I was able to urinate at around my 50% normal level and with a lot less straining. The urgency remained.Read more ›

I noticed that unless I stopped drinking any fluids say, before sunset I would invariably have the 3 AM 'get up and pee'. Well after a week of this stuff I'm here to tell ya it DOES make a difference. I may occasionally wake up but the need to drain the lizard is not errr, pressing. I can simply roll over and sleep right through, like I used to do as a kid. Just because we age doesn't mean we have to fall apart. There are useful supplements and this product works.

There is no way (w/o doctor visits) to know exactly what works and what don't. That said, I find I'm not getting up at all hours to go. So I'm happy. This is the best stuff I could find for prostate help. I'll continue to use Pygeum 500 mg 100 Caps, taking 2 a day, 1 am, 1pm.

I've tried saw palmetto, flomax, and microwave heat therapy (twice). None of this worked very well. I was getting up 3 to 4 times per night. I was about to try surgery when I heard about pygeum on the internet. I started taking two pygeum 500 mg capsules twice a day. The second week of taking pygeum, I got up 3 times one night, 2 times one night, only one time for 5 nights. It has been the same success ever since (one month). Finally something that works for me with no side effects yet!

It works! My husband age 57 suffered for months with an enlarged prostate! He had to use a catheter for over 1 month while the prescribed Flomax did nothing!
