This Pyle Pro 1000-watt receiver has a built in DVD player, USB drive, and auxiliary RCA input. In other words, it can handle almost anything you throw at it--your favorite movies, the video clips you store on your USB drive, or your favorite music on your iPod. Each input has its own gain control. The digital colorful fluorescent display shows relevant track and disc information in addition to proving a power level dB display. This unit is also equipped with an AM/FM tuner with up to 60 presets. The PD1000A powers up to 4 speakers, and has RGB, RCA, and S-video outputs as well as a subwoofer line output. It runs on selectable 110V or 220V for easier system integration.

Powers 4 Loudspeakers

The PD1000A can power up to four loudspeakers for room-filling sound. Separate gain controls for DVD, Tuner, USB, and MP3 ensure that you get the power you need for the sound and source you want. A subwoofer line audio output gives you added versatility for a bigger sound. A/B audio speaker selectors make it easy to choose between multiple speaker configurations.

Multi Media Disc Formats Compatible

Play virtually any disc on the Pyle PD1000A, including DVDs, CDs, and VCDs. This system also supports user-burned discs including CD-R, CD-RW, and MP4 data discs.

Digital Colorful Fluorescent Display

The colorful front panel features a 1-line flourescent display that displays time, station, and power information. The front panel is illuminated with blue LED lights for and a visual power level DB display for information and makes an attractive addition to any home theater system.

AM/FM Quartz Synthesized Radio Tuner

The quartz-tuned AM/FM radio comes with a 50-station AM/FM memory preset, as well as Auto Station Seek/Store for a simple way to get quick access to all your area's radio station information.

USB and AUX Inputs for Digital Music

Use the AUX input to connect your digital media players such as iPod, iPhone, or Android music phone and listen to your digital music files over your home stereo system. A USB reader function for use with portable USB drives lets you play your MP3 tunes from a portable flash memoery drive.

The Pyle PD1000A seemed a good idea. Build in the DVD/CD player into the receiver. One would expect Pyle to be innovative given their good reputation in the Pro Audo field. So I ordered one to upgrade my current TEAC Receiver. I could eliminate the DVD/CD player and pick up extra space on the audio rack.

Out of the box the PD1000A is impressive to view and comes with a set of rack mount ears. Its weight indicates the heavy power transformer required for the high wattage outputs. The USB/MP3 inputs are a good idea and the bass, treble,volume and input controls were easy to use. I do not see why they included a Karaoke capability with two microphone jacks. The controls for same take up much of the lower part of the front panel and the utility of Karaoke is lost on the avereage audio buff.

A major drawback are the blue LEDs that light up behind each control button. So bright are these lights you can't read the labels the panel. They need a dimmer control. As the unit plays, the noise from two built in cooling fans do not add much to the ambiance of the listening room.

The DVD/CD player functioned well and the video was crisp and well defined. Where the PD1000A falls down is the major reason most people would buy one-audio quality.

The unit received has a terrible hiss of white noise in the audio no matter what input was in use. Turning down the treble did not help, indicating poor output stage design. The overall audio quality was also poor. The bass was thin, even with the control at max and what treble that could be heard above the white nolise was not very brilliant. I wondered why the on line specs did not include the amplifier response. It is listed in the manual at 40 to 15KHz, hardly what would have passed for high fidelity in 1949, much less 2009.

The Pyle PD1000A is definitely not suitable for home audio use. Its best application would be in the rack of a commercial AV system or a DJ system.

I'm staying with my current system until someone come up with a good audio quality all-in -one DVD/CD receiver. Pyle missed the mark with the PD1000A.

I purchased this item primarily to connect my original Bose speaker system to my TV. I liked the added bonus of the DVD player since mine was very old with lots of problems. As an amplifier, this the Pyle unit worked well. That's the best news I can give.

Now for the bad. The disk player never worked. The cooling fans are very noisy and constantly switch on and off. The lights on the front of the unit are a little overwhelming, but I could have lived with that. However, I went online and started the return process the same day I opened the box. I ordered a similar product from another manufactured and am waiting for it to arrive. I have never heard of Pyle Audio before, but am unlikely to try another of their products.

There is some great news. This was my first return with Amazon. The process couldn't be easier. Another reason to buy from them.

When I began searching for a new receiver I wanted one that provided ease of use and was multifunctional. For the money this receiver provides multimedia use - DVD, CD, AM/FM, MP3 etc. I find the sound excellent for the price and have experienced no problems playing in any media format. I find the set up easy as is operating any of the functions. If there is a drawback, the bright blue function lights are quite bright and may be a bit distracting. Also the remote was a little cheap and buttons not easily identifiable. In all I am very happy with my purchase.
