I knew it didn't have auto-reverse when I was looking at cassette decks, so it was no surprise. I was a little leery not having heard of the Pyle name, but after trying it for a while now, I am happy with the sound, recording quality, and it has proven to be satisfactory. I also found out more from the website: www.pyleaudio.comFrom my experience it is good quality and reasonably priced.

affordable. I don't understand the noise reduction. It's not documented very well. The B deck is not good for playing tapes because it hums. Seems to record fine. The "A" deck plays good. Good deck for typical use

Ordered this deck as a gift. Never heard of Pyle before. Now I know why. This deck looks cheap with its tacky blue graphics. Right out of the box, the power switch didn't work. It has a one-year limited warranty, BUT you have to send it to the manufacturer at your expense, and send $20 for return shipping. Why would anyone spend $30+ on shipping for an item that arrived defective? It's going back to Amazon, and I'll buy a brand I recognize and trust.

It's pretty difficult to find a dual deck cassette player these days and I was really happy to find this particular brands.
Also I didn't want to pay more than $100 for one, because I have found out the hard way that regardless how much you spend they all are pretty much the same quality and why pay more for something that isn't any better product. The only problem I have with this particular deck is it doesn't have automatic cassette playback on the other side of the cassette. But as far as that goes it is a great deck and I can just get up and turn the cassette over , that's not much of a negative, just one less "remote" and I currently have about a MILLION................lol!

The cassette deck is excellent, works exactly the way it should. Both the record and playback,it is used for our church services and is doing an excellent job. Thanks

I didn't expect much for the price I paid which after I got it I thought that to be a bit much. This a unit that I believe shouldn't be sold for more than 45-50 dollars at most. The buttons or old style cassette player type and they are flimsey to push, I don't expect them to last a very long period of time before one or more falls off or breaks off. I expected to have a counter on it that would operate on both deck A and B not just on B deck. So far the mechanics of it is holding up along with the electronics of it, has great sound quality and is easy to use, of which I guess is do to its simplicity. I use it to transfer tapes to CD, DVD and MINI DISC and get a good copy however I have yet to Dub a tape on it yet. Over all it's a good home use deck, but the price of $74.00 is a little high in my opinion. If you buy this unit I personally hope the best for you and hope you understand although it says "PRO" on it, it is anything but that. Good luck with your purchase!

Pyle home dual tape drive satisfies every requirement,

I had been looking for a single-channel home tape drive for some time at local electronics reatailers with no success when I came upon this unit after a brief online search. My previous unit had finally died after 25+ years (it was a Sony - which had replaced a previous Sony that had also lasted lots of years). Audio tapes and tape players have become hard to find at most retail stores. I was almost ready to throw in the towel and pick up a 'boom-box' type system just to play my tapes, thus compromising on use of my full stereo system in my workshop. I picked up a dual tape unit at a used record store but it soon died, so I was happy to find this one, and at a lower price than I would have expected even for a single-tape unit. The sound quality is excellent - I have lots of old tapes recorded from the 80s up to now and was dreading having to place them all on a CD format - now I don't have to. This unit included all the connection wiring and it was compatible immediately with my Sony receiver and speakers - I have never had any feedback or unpleasant sounds from the speakers. It picks up the subtle sounds even on very old tapes from various vendors (BASF, Toshiba, others). Only one side records, but you can play on both sides. Recording from FM stations results in very good quality for sound playback. I have not tried CD or LP-based recording yet but expect it would be the same. I had previously purchased Pyle Driver speaker components (woofers) with good results and reliability so I decided to try this unit - and am very satisfied. The shipping was not a problem at all, as the unit arrived very well packed and shielded. I would recommend stereo components from this vendor very highly.

Pyle Home PT649D Dual Cassette Deck,

This unit is a typical Pyle offering. It is not professional quality but is fine for occational or home use. The unit is mostly plastic with silk screened control markings. Past experience with Pyle units would led me too believe they will wear off in the future. Care needs to be taken in using the controls as the are rather thin plastic. They look like they could be easily broken if used roughly.
The sound quality of the unit is what would be expected for a lower priced unit, both the extream lows and highs are clipped by the unit. There is only an on or off for the sound processing circuit. Older units allowed choices of tape types, this one does not. Playing back older prerecorded tapes can be a problem because of this lack of choice. The high speed dubbing works okay but the copies do seem to be a bit degraded (to the ear) from the original. Overall the unit is a good value for the cost. However, don't expect the quality of construction or sound reproduction/recording that you would get from a top line unit costing 2 or three times as much.

Not everything it was cracked up to be.,

PylePro is a name I'm familiar with, so when I was looking for a new deck to replace my old Realistic, I was pretty sure I'd be getting something worthwhile. Well, I was wrong. Sound wise, it's fine. Nothing fancy, nothing spectacular. Just a pretty run of the mill deck. The "rack mount" is what I've got the problem with. I was looking at this item specifically because it came rack mountable, and this saving me some desktop space. The rack ears are very light and flimsy. I'd be worried about using this is any kind of mobile rig. Now I know that's not likely to happen this day in age, but I'd be very careful with them either way. Here's the kicker though... a standard rack is 19 inches across. With the ears on the deck, it comes in at a whopping 18 and 5/8 inches. It's too narrow by nearly a quarter inch when you take into account the "give" in the ears. The holes for the rack screws aren't places correctly. Even with the little big of wiggle room they give you, it falls short of being able to fit in a rack. Next issue... the unit seems to be roughly 3 rack spaces tall. For those of you that don't know and are thinking about this, a single rack space is 1 3/4 inches. Making the deck about rack spaces 5 1/4 inches tall. No problem there right? Well, the problem is there are molded plastic feet on the front of the unit that are part of the plastic facing. That takes the size of the unit up to about 5 3/8 of an inch. It too narrow to fit in the rack, and too tall to take of the 3 spaces that it should. As I said, sound wise the unit is ok... but I can't really do anything with it as it is. I'd need to buy/build new rack ears, get out my exacto knife and dremel and cut the feet off just to get it to fit in the rack I've got now which had just enough space for a 3 space deck. If you're getting this to set it on top of a desk, it's adequate... but if you need it for any kind of pro sound situation... skip it.

This deck works fine, but it is totally lacking in features one would expect in a dual machine. No relay play, no reverse play.
