Compact Amplified Power

Part of the Pyle Home line, this 60-watt multipurpose digital Hi-Fi audio amplifier packs a punch. The PFA200 can be used in your car or home and, despite its compact size, will give your entertainment system a big boost. The state-of-the-art design uses surface mount components and advanced engineering for proven performance, reduced signal interference, and long operational life.

Customize Your Audio Experience

The PFA200 features a 3.5 mm input jack, enabling direct iPod/MP3 player connections, as well as microphone and audio input jacks. This unit will ensure low distortion and acoustically accurate reproduction of audio.

Tone/direct switching allows for customized listening via separate bass and treble adjustments - or the original sound can be passed through without enhancement.

Built-In Safety Features

The PFA200 houses built-in safety features including short cut, overload, and overheat protection to keep both it and other connected devices functioning properly and safely. The built-in loudspeaker protection circuit triggers when the amplifier is turned on to protect your speakers from high volume bursts. Overload protection shuts down the amplifier if input voltage exceeds 14.4 volts.

Pyle Home Line

The Pyle Home line includes a wealth of products and accessories designed to enrich your media experiences at home and on the go. Pyle offers projectors, TVs, mounts, stands, and more, all fully-equipped with state-of-the-art HD technology and compatible with your favorite Blu-ray players, for crisp, hi-res picture quality. The Pyle Home line is also compatible with next-generation video game consoles like Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, and carries the cables and adapters you need for a fully operational setup.

When playing loud and the bass hits, the amp shuts off for about 2 seconds then comes back on and it will keep doing this until you turn down the volume or the bass.

This amplifier works fine for the purpose I intended it for - to run a small set of speakers in an outdoor gazebo at "background level" volumes. However, the actual output power is NOT 60 watts. If anything, it's more like 8-10 watts before going into overload. I expected a bit more, even though this "power" specification issue is very common with most audio amplifiers made in China. Although I'm an electrical engineer, anyone with basic electrical knowledge can see that the power adapter itself can't even supply half of the claimed output power (14.4 volts x 2 amps = 28.8 watts). So that's only 28.8 watts to run the whole unit, including the LED light around the volume control. Also, on the unit I purchased, the microphone input did nothing at all. But it performs the simple task I bought it for, so I'll keep it. One more thing to consider: In the case where you might connect it to a subwoofer (even a dual-coil speaker) - don't do it. The T-Class amplifier chip uses special inductors and capacitors on the output - even on the common "ground" side. Unlike most stereo amplifiers, the black / common terminals are NOT the same connection for each channel. Translation: the overload relay will kick in - even at very low volume levels.

So, I never got this amp to actually work. First of all, I don't think it's a real Class T Amp. I run several Class T amps from single 12V sources with no trouble, but this wouldn't run from my standard sources of power (A single 12v 5Ah SLA Battery) so I assume it requires more constant power. When I finally found a solution to actually power it, one of the channels never worked. I attempted to open this up, resolder some pieces, but that was futile. The board is glued in the aluminum frame. So I just chucked this in the garbage. I'll stick to other brands of Class Ts in the future. Namely, the Dayton Audio DTA-2. Incredible Amp for the money.

The PFA 200 amplifier is a Class D (Class T) with BTL output which is non-inverting input to output with the “direct” button engaged (inverting with direct/tone switch in “tone”) with a RMS output power into 8 Ohms of about 4 watts. The PFA 200 is an example of the effect of aggressive output filtering to eliminate the switching noise on the Class D (Class T) output. The application note for this Class T IC warns against aggressive filtering. This amplifier provides a useful comparison to the Lepai 2020A+ which uses moderate output filtering. This filtering will be largely not noticed up to 2kH and noticed as a degradation of transients and frequency response above this point due to gradually decreasing response with frequency from this point to 20kHz where the response is down 34dB. The effect on musical transients will probably be noticed by critical listeners with good headphones or speakers. The effect on frequency response will be noticed by most. Subjectively I rate the overall effect of this amplifier as “good” since decrease in frequency response with frequency is a typical “room response” technique, as well as using a “loudness” curve when listening at low volume levels.

There is significant distortion on the sine wave output from 2kHz to 8kHz. I assume this is an artifact of the digital processing and filtering. The waveform is still basically a sine wave but not smooth. This introduces varying levels of harmonic distortion. Since this is a BTL amplifier, slight crossover distortion is visible over most of the frequency spectrum due to slight mismatch of the Class T IC outputs. It is probably not audible. The slight phase distortion in the Bass region will probably not be noticed.

Very poor sounds. I opted for the 60 amp expecting somewhere close.. my battery powered bluetooth speaker blows it away.. Now i read it need at least a 12v 4A converter instead of the supplied 2A converter... i would have rather paid more for the advertised performance.

I had high hopes for this amplifier. I needed a cheap, small, low wattage mic amp for an art project. I knew the 60W would be a gross overstatement (how do they get 60W out of a <30W power supply?!) but I figured it would do something. I was sorely disappointed. I hooked it up to a speaker and tested the Mic, the RCA, and the MP3 inputs and still nothing. The only thing I hear out of the speaker is a soft click when I turn it on or off. A click of the internal relay suggests that it is going into some sort of circuit protection. I got a thorough laugh from the abysmal documentation. Even though it's only a page long its still full of errors. The warranty offered on the "thoroughly tested" equipment requires the user to send them $45 for return shipping and handling. What a joke, considering I paid <$30 for the thing. Too bad it's too light for a doorstop.

This amp fails at it's most basic job: amplifying audio. Until they correct that problem, I can't recommend Pyle amplifiers.

I didn't read a lot of reviews prior to purchasing these amplifiers. I wish I had. I now know that this amplifier delivers nowhere near the 60 Watts power that it says in the specs. If I crank this baby is one more than 10 Watts, it will start distorting heavily.
