    Minimal noise cancelling.
    Jim J
The thin pieces of plastic holding the speakers to the headband are really thin and crappy; the right one is cracked on one side and has snapped on the other.
Good to very good sound quality.

I got these for use on a treadmill, so I could hear the TV while working out. They do not totally eliminate the treadmill noise, but at least I can hear what's happening on the tube.

Here's the one small caution: The instructions say to remove the left cup when inserting the batteries, but they don't say how. To insert the batteries, TURN THE PAD COUNTERCLOCKWISE.

    Update to below:

I've used these phones now for several long international flights. They work great. Last flight from Sydney to Newark found me back in Economy with what seemed like 20 screaming babies (I love babies of course especially my own grandbabies... I just don't like their screaming).

These phones almost totally blocked out the sound of their cries. Priceless!

They are still going strong, haven't broken in spite of being crammed into my overstuffed backpack and are comfortable even on a long 14 hour flight. I do get a bit of red ring around my ears from wearing them so long, a small price to pay.

The cord that comes with them has proven to be a little short but a quick trip to an electronics store and $5 got a longer one.

Battery life? Great! 2 trips to Asia, 1 trip to Europe, 1 trip to Australia. I changed the first set of batteries somewhere between (they weren't dead yet) and the second set is still alive.

First off, the seller delivered quickly & without hassle, always important in an online purchase.

I admit I was a tad skeptical of the eight 5-star ratings these headphones had received to date. However I bought them anyway and after a long evening of trying them out (I'm still a kid, I admit, I love playing with my new toys!), I agree that they deserve the 5-star rating. Not necessarily for being best of breed, but for value for the money. I mean come on, these things are 1/6th the price of Bose and do the same thing. That's a lot of beer money! Impressions after the first day:

One reviewer said they were (or seemed to be) Sennheiser PXC 350 OEMs; I'm not sure of that, but if not they are excellent knock-offs.

Hard to be more objective than that. Sorry. I posted a photo of the workmanship used to assemble these, terrible. I put them on, dialed in some Black Crowes on the Cowon S9 whoo hoo, Ready to Rock man! Not so fast...... No music on the left channel. I am an Engineer with a complete mechanical prototype lab at my disposal. I opened them up and was shocked to see one of the circuits had a pinched wire. During assembly someone tried to thread a screw though it. Not only that the sweatshop in which these were assembled didn't have wire strippers. The worker(s) used their teeth to bare the wire before soldering it to the PCB. Can you imagine the overbite that would develop? They removed my picture showing the terrible construction of these units.

These Pyle Noise Canceling Headphones are fantastic. For $50 you can't beat them especially compared to models that cost $200 or more and don't deliver the same performance. These headphones block out ambient noise up to 20db; I checked out Bose Quiet comfort 15 and Beats By Dre Studio headphones and neither list how many decibels are canceled out. Not to mention the battery life is right up there with the expensive brands.

I use these primarily for studying to listen to very low levels of classical music (study aid) and for listening to lectures for bar exam preparation (Barbri) and it blocks out all noise going on around my house like family walking around upstairs and talking and I couldn't hear the dogs barking outside anymore when I was using these headphones. I thought they worked best at very low volume levels with music that requires good acoustics.

    High Quality Sound
Blocks up to 20db of Ambient Sound
    Very comfortable
    Long Battery Life

Sound leakage at medium to high volume levels
Hissing sound with Noise Canceling turned on (but that's with all NC headphones)
Very short audio cable (too short if plugged into a computer and trying to move around)

Honestly these are Sennheiser PXC 350 OEM's
Same material, body, case and padding is memory foam.

These are insanely good for the price.
NC is pretty good blocks out decent amount, great for College.
    Slight hiss but its livable!
The battery life is nice as well and has built in volume control huge plus!

    Lets get to the sound.
I own the M50's and these are almost as good,
I have burned them in for 50 hrs so far so they still have to open up a little bit
i have noticed the their is more bass when nc is off, and when nc is on highs have a slight roll out.
bass is great, mids are lovely and highs are very nice.
Soundstage is okay wish it was bigger.

Other wise damn good sound and they are loud no need for amp.

Simply the best headphone for the price range!

I've been wearing my 45s for a couple hours now and can say they are very, very comfortable.

These Pyle 45s completely cover my ears and I have no problems with them sealing around my ears or sealing flat against my head. They do not squish my ears in any way. I bought them for an upcoming trip with several lengthy flights.

The headphones feel very sturdy and the case is as well. I'll have no worries about them getting squished in my backpack.

One of the first things I noticed is that the big, rather unattractive 'PYLE' logo is absent from the side(s) of the ear piece. I was pleased to see this, as I thought it looked a bit tacky. These could indeed be Sennheisers, and they surely look similar.

The foam on the ear cups and the inside of the headband is very soft and squishy as well. They are getting a bit warm around my ears after having been on my head for over an hour, but it's not a big deal. I don't think I would wear these while exercising, as they're too big and heavy for my liking for that kind of activity. At the gym or while running I wear Philips sports-style headphones with the rubber hook-shape that fits over the top of the ear, as regular earbuds always fell out while I was running. These Pyle 45s would likely fall off while running, and they'd soon get all sweaty inside and would get dirty. So I would recommend them for travel or at-home use.

As for the cons/negatives other reviewers have mentioned, I can offer my initial impressions. The ear cups are big and fit very well around the ears (circumaural), so they offer a lot of passive noise canceling. When the active noise canceling is turned on, there is a slight hiss, but this occurs with all noise-canceling headsets.
