My 16 year old has been itching to get subs in his car and he recently earned some money so we sat down and started planning. With the limited budget we had a hard time trying to find something that would pack a punch. We quickly found that we couldn't afford the hi-end subs and amps and decided to take a chance on these subs and the Pyle 2200 amp. I read all of the reviews, both good and bad, and we ordered. We went down to the local Best Buy and got a deal on a close-out dual 12" box that was ported for $30. Since these subs have dual voice coils I wired them in parallel to get 2 ohm input and hooked them up. I also ordered the Boss install kit and it worked out very well. We turned it on and these things thump! I adjusted the input level to match the head unit and I am very happy with the sound of this system. This system didn't cost a lot of money and it sounds great. As with anything you can spend a fortune but with $180 I spent (speakers, install kit, amp)I am very happy. Plus, I had some great quality time with my son installing it.

I bought two of these and mounted them into a sealed box. WOW. They sound superb. Topped it off with the pyle pla-2210 1800 watt amp and I'm bumping down the road. The real test came when my buddy behind me said I was making his mirrors bump to my tunes. Inexpensive but very good for the price.
I'd recommend getting a head unit such as the Kenwood Excelon kdc-x592 which has an adjustable subwoofer level setting. This works well because your not cranking up the bass on your component speakers too which can lead to some nasty distortion. Also, a capacitor may be necessary to save your electrical system (1 farad for every 500 watts). Expensive setup but well worth it in the end.

I was looking to make a semi-portable system that I could use anywhere, car, house, beach, you name it. But i didn't want to spend a ton of money on it as there was a high chance i'd get it wet or blow it out since this is the first system i've put together. I went with a pyle component system, this sub and a kenwood amp. I originally powered it with a cheap power supply, but it blew out in a few month so now i have a nicer one. The sub has been amazing. It easily over powers the speakers i have to go with it. I had a little trouble figuring out the DVC stuff and telling if it made any difference, but think i got it down now. The real test was taking it on the beach for spring break. I thought the sub wouldn't be able to compete with all the noise and sand, but i was wrong. It shakes the beach and can be heard from very far away. I have 2 boston acoustic 2.1 systems in my house and though they produce nice clean lows, for parties, this sub shakes the whole build. for 35$ you cant go wrong. I've had it now for over a year and still going strong. pyle won me over!

We purchased this subwoofer to replace a similar Pyle subwoofer received as a gift that failed after two weeks. It was a perfect fit for the original enclosure and the new subwoofer sounded even better. The new subwoofer stopped working after four months with normal use connected to a professionally installed 350W amp. Although the warranty says 12 months it costs over $30 shipping to return and replace whereas a new unit costs $40. When it works its a great value!

This product is perfect for a beginner system. I read All the Reviews which helped me with make my decision. My truck had been broken into and all my kicker stuff was stolen. low on cash and needing my thump back. decided to get two of these for my 97 gmc sierra. (Note: These subs are too big to be put in a truck box) I have a 1000 watt kenwood amp and they have no problem handleing 1000watt. these hit pretty good, don't hit the low notes very well, but in order to get some thump in your trunk these are perfect, cheap, beginner subs for cars. They're no kickers but they will get the job done. Would like to thank amazon for the amazing service and shipping i dont think i'll go anywhere else.

I have one of theses in an MTX thunder box hooked to a 1000 watt infinity amp and I get asked all the time "holy crap man what do you have in there" well its ONE yes I said ONE of these PL1290BL in my 97 RAM 1500 in the back seat because well there is no trunk to put it in. And what happened next was I had to replace my driver side rear window because the bass was to much for it. Be careful cause in this case you get WAY MORE THAN WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

It's A GREAT subwoofer but if u dont have an amp that pushes the Power it wont sound as good. I had a 600 watt amp and the Speaker was really loud, hit hard! When i brought and amp that pushed 2400 Watts and plugged it in now i heard the difference this speaker is so good I now have 2. I have had these subs for 3 years.they are each wired in parallel @2 ohm with the pyle chopper series 2400 watt amp. if your looking for boom on a budget you cant go wrong with these.I had them in 2 single sub boxes and recently installed them in a slot vented box....there's more boom to them with the slot vented box vs the sealed.honestly they have been good to me.I plan to upgrade to some pld12wd subs in the near future may even go with 15s still undecided.so in closing from my experience these subs will add some boom to your system without braking the bank. Hooked up properly and broken in properly they will last a long time.

i love the sound for the low price and without a box. i have to wait till my box comes but i know for sure its going to sound great..thanks amazon
