Easy installation. Works as expected, very clear during day, but in the night is a little poor.....maybe I expected to much. I m thinking install an extra reverse light in order to improve a better night vision. Anyway I m going to buy another one for the other car.

Installed this backup camera on a Tahoe. It took several hours to do.

Per other reviews I tested it out before installing and it worked fine out of the box. Used it for a week so far and it is well worth the price. Worked OK in the rain.

Not particularly "good" video, but fully functional - a real comfort to know someone or something is not behind me when backing up. I've adjusted the camera pointing angle several times to get max coverage - the 90deg field-of-view is just barely enough.

The included hole saw bit cut through the aluminum for the mounting plate I created in a few seconds. The cables were more than long enough. I mounted the camera to the plate and to the rear bumper using bolts designed to keep license plates from being purloined. Tapped into a license plate light wiring to get camera power.

Overall - well worth $53. Functional.

Nov 2012 Update: Still works fine. Not great, but puts my mind at ease backuping up. Before installing I coated the area where the wires enter the camera with sealant as I figured it might be a weak spot. The IR illuminators are weak at night, but beats having nothing by a wide margin. Glad I bought this and hard wired it in.

Feb 2014 Update: Still works. Before I originally installed I had used sealant to augment the camera's seals, and this has been OK. The camera unit did stop when temperatures dropped to 10degF and below. Was OK as soon as got back to 20degF.

I put this on my 2006 F-150 and mounted the display on the top of the back seat.

While the video is OK, and somewhat shows at night, the angle of the camera is too narrow to see the whole width of the truck, and the video is flipped left<==>right. The flipped video would not be an issue if the display was on the dash, but it works well as supplement to looking behind you instead of looking forward and backing up.

Install was not to hard (instructions were just a wire diagram), I used the backup light wire on the trailer hitch connector for camera enable (power) and the sub woofer under the backseat for power for the display. Running the wire from the back was the hardest, but I found a plug under the rear door step panel (snaps out) that worked perfectly. I just cut a x in the plug and routed the wire through it.

Put this on a 2010 Chevy Silverado crew cab, went in very easy. The supplied video cable was a little short needed about 4 more feet the way i routed it)but was an easy fix with an extension for the video cable. I ran the camera and the monitor to a toggle switch. It works great! really appreciate the fact they supplied a hole cutter in order to fit the camera where ever you decide to put it. I will be buying another for my wife. Easy to install and great picture!

So, the camera that comes with the set isn't the best in the world, for this price, it's worth it. It's easy enough to get a better camera if you want one.

I used this set by installing the included camera in the front center of my truck's bed, and a better camera in the bumper. I used a selector switch, so I could use the back up camera, or I could switch to the bed camera for loading a camper. Worked great.

Monitor base isn't the best, but visibility is good, and installation is pretty straightforward. I installed on a quad-cab short bed and had just enough cable length to the bumper. A longer truck will need additional cable, which is standard A/V cable and not very expensive.

The story lead in:

This is a great camera setup for the price. I have a unique situation where I didn't like the wireless cameras and thier poor video quality. I needed something that had a very clear image and the ability to have 2 inputs. You see I drive a 2006 Dodge Mega Cab Diesel truck and we all know how big these trucks are. In addition to this I have 2 R/C Sailplanes in thier travel cases in the back window so I can't see out the back. I also tow a 5th wheel travel trailer and this is where the triple cams come in.

The Installation:

I installed the camera that comes in this kit on the top rail of the bed of my truck at the back window pointed at the 5th wheel hitch. I then installed another license plate mounted camera.PYLE PLCM10 License Plate Mount Rear View camera with 0 Lux Night Vision
My installation was set up not to be tied to the backup system at all. I wired each of the cameras directly to power through a SPDT toggle switch.(Single pole double throw) This allows me to switch from one camera to the other at will and by doing so I use the plate camera as a rear view mirror when needed. Now the 3rd camera setup. When I wired up the license plate cam listed above, I installed a plug under the rear bumper. Then I installed another camera on the rear bumper of our 5th wheel trailer. PYLE PLCM22IR Flush Mount Rear View Camera with 0.5 Lux Night Vision I ran the wires of the trailer cam to the front of the 5th wheel and installed a plug assembly to mate with the plug under the bumper of the truck.
