Product Description

This rack-mountable, 5-channel power amplifier has power – 600 watts! On the back, it’s equipped with 4 mic inputs, each of which can take balanced XLR or ¼” jack inputs – and a rotary-controlled filter prevents excessive feedback. It also has 2 RCA line inputs – so you can connect another source like a CD or MP3 player. This amp is also compatible with speakers of various impedance – it has screw terminals for 4, 8, and 16 ohm speakers, as well as an 8 ohm binding post output. The in/out effects loop allows you to process your signal using an external device. On the front, an illuminated VU meter provides signal levels. A headphone jack lets you hear your mix in private. The PT610 has thermal overload protection with indicator, so you know your sound is secure. Runs on 110 and 220 V.

Our installation is telephone system ringing/paging module fed into the amplifier, then through about 600 feet of 22 gauge (gasp) wire to two 70v horns. This had been working fine for about ten years with a Bogen amp then a Radio Shack amp (both taken out by a power surge after a lightning strike). We selected this amplifier because the price and features list, knowing we were about to change phone systems and would need a rack-mount unit.

With both telephone systems, the Pyle amp would shut down with a fuzz noise through the speakers. This would happen several times a day for a period of a few days. Then the system would work fine for a few days. When we changed telephone systems, we moved the amp to within 100 feet of the horns. Still the same problem, but not as often. At Pyle's suggestion, we ran 12 new gauge wire to the speakers. Same problem.

So... Can't blame the input. Can't blame the wiring. Can't blame the speakers.

We replaced with a Bogen amplifier and had no problems since.

You'd expect me to give this review a "zero stars" rating. But, if the amp will work for you, it's a great value for the money!

We needed a quick replacement of our old amplifier when it went South. This Amp cost a third of the old one and works great. The anti-feedback feature also solves lots of our problems. We use the 70v line output and drive 35 speakers without any problems.

First, speaker connections are crazy, with a common post, instead of separate dedicated speaker connection. I am not familiar with bare wire speaker connection in a good amplifier. My biggest problem is during the use it shuts off multiple times to prevent it from damage without any apparent reason, except the amplifier was very hot, without any apparent overload. So I am not sure about this specific product, is it my amplifier or poor design/

Bought the PT610 amp to replace an amp in our buildings PA system. Works great and the price was very good.
