Good power for the money, gets the job done!,

I own 2 of these amps in a DJ rig. One runs a pair of 300W @ 4ohm mains and the other is bridged to run a single 8ohm 300W 18" sub. Now it's not going to tear your face off, but it will get loud enough for crowds of a couple hundred. I've even added another pair of 12" speakers in parallel with the mains (6ohm total load) to get a wider sound dispersion in larger or outdoor venues. I've never had a problem with overheating as each unit uses two fans and I run them at about 80% gain. That's just enough to get me a little more headroom on the mixer before I get excessive clipping. I'm very satisfied with these amps especially for the price. For the size of my gigs and current budget, these could not have worked out better. They're even cheap enough that you could keep one on hand as a spare, but I've found them to be reliable.

I bought this amp a few months ago from Amazon and wanted to wait just to make sure it was a keeper. I use this amp to power my whole house audio system and it does it with no problem what so ever. It can power 8 Phonix gold ATC6 speakers along with 2 ATC8 speakers and holds up pretty well. You do have to get some plugs to convert the jacks to RCA which wasnt a big deal for me. No static or buzzing even with the 10+ fluorescent fixtures and i dont know how many CFL's that would make my old home theater amp go crazy with noise. This amp is a great value for its price and I will be purching another one when I finish off the basement.

I don't know if this is really some 700W per channel, but its been loud enough for us in a small club setting! I would (and probably will soon) buy another one.

Pyle Pro PTA-1400 Amp Failure,
By Jerry Sample (Three Rivers, Michigan, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pyle Pro PTA1400 1400 Watt Professional Power Amplifier (Electronics)
As one one of the earlier reviews stated, I too turned on a brand new PTA 1400 and with in 2 minutes it started sparking and arcing and went up in smoke. I made the mistake of sending it to the Pyle service center in Brooklyn, NY and have been treated very rudely and in fact was hung up on twice. I don't recommend this item, as even the service center absolutely stinks. And by the way, they still haven't returned my amp yet, so be ware.

Great amp I use it to power my 2x 15" peavey cabinets the only problem is that if you are like me with no experience with amps it kind of sucks.. I was having trouble finding the right cables to connect the amp to my laptop so I had to buy the Neutrik Speakon to 1/4 in Female Adapter and a Hosa 1/8 in. Stereo to Dual 1/4 in. Mono Cable to connect it from the amp to my laptop. so remember to buy cables it doesnt bring any!!

I received 2 now from ShopCell and both shorted on first use. Second time I didn't even plug anything into it. Just powered it on for about a minute. Smoke/spark/fire stunk the whole house up. I'm going to try once more straight through Amazon because the PTA1000 works fine but came with a dent on the bottom. My first PTA1400 also had a dent but not the 2nd unit I received. I see someone else has also had this same problem so I know it is not me.UPDATE Got another from a different seller. IT WORKS AND I LIKE IT. GLAD I STUCK WITH IT AFTER 2 FAILED ATTEMPTS. 5 STARS NOW.

After purchasing a PTA1000 I was putting in a home Karaoke system and used the PTA1400. Fits the budget nicely and performs well.Pros: Powers 2x 15" Peavey Cabinets well. Fits into 19" rack Cons: Noisy fans (But for the price, it really doesn't bother me) The LED light do not work (they didn't work on the PTA1000 either, but again for the price, that doesn't bother me) If you need power and on a budget, these are the way to go.

As I've heard with the Pyle Pro amps, I received mine today, and it was defective. Only one channel worked, and it definitely looked like it took a beating before it arrived at my doorstep. The packaging was very good though, so I'm thinking this looks like a refurb/used, and they listed it as new. Already printed the return shipping label, and it will head back to the Amazon warehouse on Monday...

I was so excited to set up a PA system for a bunch of elementary and middle school kids for an upcoming community performance. Ordered this unit based on the reviews on Amazon, which I trust and always had a great experience with. The product arrived in a very timely fashion, and after all the other units also arrived from Amazon (PA monitors, microphones, etc.) we geared up for our test run this weekend. Power LED lights up, and the fan is running. Other than that, ZIP. No signal to the monitors (1000 W capacity PA system, 14 guage new speaker wires, they should be booming!). The signal LEDs do not light up when input or output units are plugged in. I think the electronics are faulty. VERY disappointed, as I have a program to put up in less than a week! I hope Amazon makes this right IMMEDIATELY.Update: OK folks, Amazon is AMAZING, told them what was going on and I had a replacement delivered at my door in 2 days, in plenty time for our kiddie gig. Hooked it up to the Yamaha mixer and speakers and viola, it send signal to the speakers this time, and WHAT A SOUND! Worth every penny, if it works. I revised my rating to 4 stars instead of a 5, due to the grief I suffered with the first shipment, otherwise the product earns 5 stars. Keeping my fingers crossed that the product lasts. |
