Hissing noise, do not buy,

This review is from: Pyle-Pro PWMA930I 600 Watt VHF Wireless Portable PA System/Echo with iPod Dock (Electronics)
I own a pwma230. It works quite well except it does not seem to be as loud as 200W. So when the pwma930i was available, I recommended it to my church which bought one from mail order. I also bought one for myself through Amazon. Both units made a fairly loud hissing noise even when the volume was turned way down and there was no input. The units also made humming noise when AC was used. Being an engineer myself, I believe the noise is either due to poor design (some kind of cross-talk), or poor workmanship. I sent an email to Pyle Audio, and there was no answer. I would not recommend this product unless the problem is fixed.
Follow-up, May, 2010 I asked Amazon to replace my unit. Without a surprise the replacement unit exhibited the same hissing noise and AC hum. I returned the church unit to Pyle for repair. The hissing noise was reduced somewhat, but was still fairly loud, kind of barely usable. I decided to hold onto my second unit, to give the factory some time to fix a design problem. I sent my second unit in for repair when my 1-year warranty was almost up. You know what? I received a PWMA-230 back instead. The service department of Pyle Audio must be half asleep. I will continue to report what is going on. Basically, this is a very low quality company, both in its products and in its service.

It HISSES!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pyle-Pro PWMA930I 600 Watt VHF Wireless Portable PA System/Echo with iPod Dock (Electronics)
I bought this 600 watt PylePro because I wanted a docking station that was loud enough to hear on the beach and at large gatherings. It makes a hissing noise that can be heard while listening to the music. It doesn't matter if the music vol. is low or high, it still hisses. In some songs, it hisses worse than others. I made adjustments on the bass & treble, but it didn't matter, it still hissed. I lowered the vol. on the MP3 player, and that did not help either. This PylePro is a great idea, and if it did not hiss, it would be perfect! The cordless mic worked great, there are several 1/4" inputs, the handle and wheels are a plus, and overall it has a professional look, BUT it hisses. UPS delivered it about an hour ago, and the longer I played it, the more it hissed. I've already contacted Amazon, and have printed out a RETURN authorization. I'm very disappointed because as I said, it's a great idea if Pyle could remove the hiss. I read about the hiss in other reviews, but I guess mine would not do it, but I was wrong. DON'T BUY IT if you want a pure sound.

Perfect for Line Dance Teachers!!!,
This review is from: Pyle-Pro PWMA930I 600 Watt VHF Wireless Portable PA System/Echo with iPod Dock (Electronics)
I purchased this amp to have something reliable, and easy to move around to dance classes that I teach at several different locations. With its caster wheels and extendable handle, it will be perfect for my classes! It is a very sturdy and well made professional amplifier! The speakers are protected by the metal grate on the front. It has corner protectors and sturdy casing. Just plop your Ipod on top and turn it on. It is perfect to use for teaching, with it's wireless mic and Ipod dock, and boy does it pump! I can see that this will be great to have this summer at barbeques in the park, where there's no electrical connection, at a block party or even on the beach! Great piece of equipment!

Great portable PA system,
This review is from: Pyle-Pro PWMA930I 600 Watt VHF Wireless Portable PA System/Echo with iPod Dock (Electronics)
Easily portable with a chargable battery, great loud system for the price. The PA system is excellent.
Mic works well - but only if it is held right next to your mouth. Extra inch and it doesn't pick up well. I bought a Shure headset microphone to use with the PA.

Inferior product and service,

The product sound was inferior compared to other speaker systems I have, and the ipod dock did not work at all. When I returned it, the company gave me a return authorization in a timely manner but did not communicate with me about a refund until I continually asked them about it. Their responses were short, cryptic, and would only explain a small portion of the return process.

this little box has a whole lot of sound! i use this in a high school gym and it easily fills the gym without reaching max volume. some have commented that it sounds clearer than the in-house sound system. the microphone didnt last long for some reason but i bought a wired one that works great! i love the ipod dock! never have to stress about "did i charge my ipod recently" again! the handle and wheels are a nice addition, however the holes for the back handle stripped and are very hard to replace. but VERY HAPPY with the sound!!

Fine for small room,

I was looking for something for a room for 100+ people... based on "600 watt" claim thought this would work well... not so much.
It does not, as far as I could tell, have a line out jack for outboard speaker. I bought this one instead:Ion Audio iPA03 Portable PA System with iPod Docking Adapter Added an external powered speaker, and worked fine. The Pyle inputs and controls I liked better than the Ion. And it's a little heavier/more solid than the Ion... and the Pyle has an ok (ho hum) mic... but I'm returning the Pyle b/c of the output jack. Had none of the issues re buzzing/noise, sounded fine, and if you're looking for something for a room for 25 or 40 people, I'd recommend. However, if you're looking for a "600 watt" PA, this is not it.

I've been looking into getting a decent set of speakers for the past year-and-a-half but so far money has been a major constraint. This past summer I happened to get a well-paying job and was lucky enough to spend some of my spare cash on this for the ballroom dance club I am a part of. It is by far the best set of speakers I've ever owned!
I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about with the buzzing noise since the only buzzing I hear is if the speaker set is left on, there's no audio being input, and the volume is turned up. The only other instance is if the line-in cord is plugged in and someone touches the metal tip on the other end of the cord, but all this is the same no matter how what speaker you try this on, even the high-end ones! One of the major perks I found for this is the iPod dock. NOTE: it DOES NOT work with iPhone or iTouch (any version). If you want the same basic thing without the dock for a few bucks cheaper, try the Pyle PWMA230. There are two down-sides I've found, one of which is to be expected. I'm seeing some wear and tear on the plastic wheels after only a month of use, albeit heavy use. The battery life is still solid and the sound hasn't diminished at all since I received it. The other negative is the confusion with syncing the wireless microphone that comes with it to the PA. It's exactly as one would guess (turn one on, then the other) but I expected the microphone's LED to stay lit. Overall it is still the best speaker set I've ever used. I've taken it to parties, used it in a flash mob, and even at an activity fair only half-volume sufficed for everyone in the area to hear it.

Great little PA System,

I bought this PA for use at my restaurant/bar. We needed something to play music outside and be able to use a microphone. This thing has filled those needs admirably. The mic works great, the iPod docking station is a nice touch. It does take a little practice getting the iPod docked, but it also allows enough room that I did not have to take my iPod out of its case to connect it. When I turn the PA up past halfway, their can be a little distortion with music, but even halfway is loud enough for small to medium groups outside, but don't expect this to project over hundreds of people outdoors. (which for the price, I doubt any reasonable person would.) This thing would be great for tailgate parties, pool parties, family reunions, etc.

Pyle-Pro PWMA930I 600-Watt VHF Wireless Portable PA System/Echo with iPod Dock
We bought this for graduation ceremony and made the mistake of not opening it till May. The speaker had pulled all the screws out and was loose. The face is made of chip board so it can't hold a screw, they just break off. It should have been made of plywood, even 1/2 inch would have worked. And to top it off it was missing the wireless mic. The box was factory sealed. Beware of buying this. I'm very surprised amazon sells this, they ought to be embarrassed. |
