Speaking as an accomplished accordionist (who never, ever plays "Lady of Spain"), Chango Spasiuk is an outstanding example of what the instrument can do for classic folk music. Myron Floren would even be proud.

I had caught part of an NPR story on this album and on a whim got it - am so glad I did! This is wonderful music, full of interlaced rhythms and weaving melodies.

All great accordion players are not dead! And I think that those who are may R.I.P.! And I still like to do my Continoesque LOS and the Beer Barrel Polka imitation of Frankie Yankovik. I think I laugh at least once a week when I hear accordion music on NPR and think of Gary Larsen's great cartoon in which the devil himself is welcoming damned souls into his domain with the greeting and present. "Welcome to HELL! Here's your ACCORDION!"
