The Pyramid Approach to Education in Autism is written by Dr. Andy Bondy and Dr. Beth Sulzer-Azaroff. Authors Bondy and Sulzer-Azaroff are experts in their field and bring their wealth of knowledge and many years of experience to this book! This book is a must read for special education and regular ed teachers alike!

The Pyramid Approach to Education is a comprehensive framework for establishing effective learning environments. Through the use of applied behavior analysis, this approach provides the foundation for a positive environment for growth. The Pyramid emphasizes how to teach, rather than simply what to teach, in order to maximize an individual's learning outcomes.

In this book, each component of the Pyramid Approach to Education is clearly defined and thoroughly explained. Various techniques that are necessary to create effective lessons are covered as well. In addition, it teaches you how to integrate the Pyramid Approach into daily classroom routines. Some topics covered in this book include the following: the science of behavior, functional objectives, powerful reinforcement systems, communication/social skills, preventing/reducing contextually inappropriate behaviors, designing effective lessons, specific teaching strategies, minimizing/correcting errors, and collecting/analyzing data. Most chapters offer a summary of the material at the end of each chapter which I found to be helpful! In addition, the authors offer suggested reading and/or videos at the end of the chapters. Various charts, tables, figure and visual aids throughout the book were very helpful!
