Unlike many other users, my complaint with this wire is not in regards to its thickness. In fact, I used 12 gauge wire strippers to strip the wire and it worked just fine (even cut a few strands of wire in the process). My complaint is that you may or may not get a full, uncut, 100 foot length of wire. I ordered two spools for speaker installation in my "man cave;" one spool was comprised of a 100 foot length of one wire while the other spool was disappointingly comprised of a 35 foot length of wire and a separate longer length. Need less to say this was extremely disappointing to me because I was already running that spool of wire along the ceiling when it just suddenly ended with the rest of the 2/3 of the spool not attached. I was lucky that I didn't need a full 100, or even 50, foot length to wire my speakers. So anyway, buyer beware. The fully intact spool was great; nice wire, one strand easily identified with a red stripe, and flexible.

Sold and purchased from Amazon.com. I bought this 100 ft spool of speaker wire from Amazon in Dec. 2009 and have just opened it up for use. The wire and jacket is good enough, problem is that the spool and jacket is labeled 12 awg but the wire is actually 14 awg. Clearly this is not an accident or error by the manufacturer or distributor. I've see that this is not an uncommon practice among less reputable online sources but I am very dissappointed that Amazon did not realize what they were selling and pull this from their invetory, or sell it as mislabeled 14 awg.

I do not know whether this wire is thinner than 12 gauge or not as mentioned in the other reviews. What I can say is that when I used the 12 gauge stranded wire slot of my wire stripper (which is bigger than the solid wire slot), it invariably severed a few of the strands. So it is close enough to 12 gauge. In any case, what matters to me is if it does the job or not. I have 40' runs to the surround speakers, and they work just fine.

Bougt it and have no audio issues, but as noted by others in review its not AWG12. Think coating too..
Probably works for me is I did not need AWG12 for my set up..
But I hate misleading ads

I am surprised that Amazon still lists this as 12 gauge wire.
If you include the plastic insulation it may be close to 12 gauge !!
I have sent my spool back for a refund and purchased real 12 gauge wire at least

Bought what was suppose to be and was labeled 12g wire, and recieved 16g wire. Had to double up wires in place of one to compensate.

Wire was fine except it isnt 12 gauge. I read other reviews and planned for that. I wanted 14 gauge so I ordered 12 gauge. The price was still good. I did measure the spool and I did have 100 feet. That's better than some of the other brands that are being offered. Some said they were receiving as little as 70 something feet when they ordered 100 feet. Thats just wrong. All in all I'm happy with what I received. People just need to be aware that if you want a true 12 gauge you won't get it with this product.

As others have mentioned, i have used AWG12 in the past and this is definately not that...maybe AWG16. you get what you pay for. Wrong advertising.

Maybe some buyers actually received 12-gauge wire, but what I got appears to be less than half the thickness of some 12-gauge speaker wire I already had. I thought the price was too good to be true and it was.

Spools of Pyramid-brand wire in various gauges are being offered by Amazon. The reviews & comments are so widely varied that I suspect that this supplier is re-spooling and labeling whatever wire they have on hand from various Chinese factories, believing that no incoming inspection will be performed by Amazon fulfillment centers. My own experience with this brand is that I received a spool of wire at least one size smaller than specified. (I returned it without unwrapping~unwinding, so I cannot speak to whether it was one continuous 100 ft. length...)

Although the pricing may get your attention, each of the wire sizes offered by this supplier comes with the same types of complaints spelled out in the respective reviews and comments. If you choose to order Pyramid-brand speaker wire, don't be surprised if you don't get what you didn't pay for...
