5.0 out of 5 stars Most used baking pan in my kitchen
I have a lot of pans in my kitchen, and only 5 I think I'd rather give up all my wooden spoons than do without. This is one of them. I've used it up to 425 degrees F without any issues and I use for almost everything. Roasting, lasagna, meatloaf. It's my main dish pan.
Because it's glass, it's very easy to clean. You can use a metal scrubbie on it and it won't...

In case you haven't read the January issue of Consumer Reports yet, let me summarize: The American makers of Pyrex have changed the formula for their glass, substituting cheaper ingredients which make it more likely to shatter from heat. The European Pyrex still uses the traditional Pyrex formula and is as heat-resistant as always. "We baked at least five samples of each brand in a 450-degree oven. All of the U.S. Pyrex and Anchor dishes shattered when placed on the wet countertop. None of the European dishes ... broke" here's the European product: [ASIN:B002KHNQ3E Arcuisine Elegance Glass 2.8 Quart Rectangular Baker]

3.0 out of 5 stars Dimensions, February 26, 2010

The item description is somewhat misleading. The length is measured from outside handle to outside handle. I purchased the item thinking it was the inside dimensions. I should have purchased the larger baking dish. It works fine but a little small.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just a name, quality is gone, April 21, 2011

Add another to the list of disappointments with what "Pyrex" has become. This isn't the glass you grew up with after Corning sold the name.

Buy one of the European brands (like Arcuisine) or a glazed ceramic one.

World Kitchen also won't stand behind the product in a reasonable way -- It isn't oven *heat* that break these -- it's taking it out of the oven.

I baked some vegetables at 400 F then put the dish on a surface that was a bit wet. My older pyrex dish tolerates such transfers with no problem. This one exploded into over a hundred pieces. I'm really glad my 3-year old wasn't in the kitchen!

2.0 out of 5 stars Pyrex has lost its way, January 9, 2011
By

This review is from: Pyrex Grip-Rite 3-Quart Oblong Baking Dish Clear (Kitchen)
I've been baking with Pyrex for more than 30 years. I won't buy any, again.

This pyrex tray, you may notice if you examine the photo very very carefully, has lots of imbedded or raised designs and letters on it. That means:

1) Much more effort to clean

2) Can never be cleaned really well

3) Over time, is guaranteed to collect brown baked-on dirt that simply will not come off, because there are so many corners and edges around all the designs and writing.

My OLDER Pyrex dishes, this size and other sizes, had the tiny word "Pyrex" about an inch long on the bottom, and a few tiny numbers on it. That's how it should be.

This NEW dish, has a big huge "PYREX" embossed on its underside, within a rectangular embossed area. What's worse, on the underside of the handles (absolutely guaranteed to get dirty!) they've added more embossed writing. Baked on oils are already making a mess of my new pyrex, and I'm a fastidious cleaner.

(I've had the new set about 1/2 year... my older set, I keep immaculately clean using those 3M green pads that substitute for steel wool. Already the new set is grimier than my old set, although I use it sparingly.)

Pyrex has also sharpened up some of the corners that previously had a greater "curvature" to them -- meaning these corners will be harder to clean too, e.g. where the handles connect to the pan.

What this indicates to me, is that Pyrex is spending too much thought on emblazoning their products with the logo, to make sure you remember the brand name -- rather than actually designing a product that will function well the way you should need it to function.

Do not buy this product. Instead, try an Anchor Hocking backing dish... although look for one without any ribbing, in my opinion. Or go for one of the opaque white glass type baking pans. Avoid Pyrex brand.

4.0 out of 5 stars not the easiest to clean..., May 10, 2010

Hello fellow consumers, here's my review:

Pros: *Perfect size for my small kitchen--spacious enough to handle large foodstuffs
*grip handles functional with oven mits/towels and have not slipped
*thick glass-doesn't feel cheap or flimsy
*attractive
*Cooks food evenly

Cons: *NOT easy to clean once burnt and stuck-on grease is present--solution to better facilitate this issue: use foil paper coated with butter/oil of any kind

Conclusion: it's a pyrex, so you're def getting good quality product. Just read the brief instructions before use and you're good to go. Hope you enjoy it like i have.

On the very first use, this dish exploded in my oven and took hours to clean up. I will never buy Pyrex again and will use ceramic dishes from now on.

Very satisfied with the product. Looks and performs as expected. I know it's 'plain jane', but I even like the way it looks. Amazon's regular or list price of $12.99 does seem slightly high though. Using the model number I found Pyrex's website list price (at time of my purchase) as $8.99 and also found it in a CVS shop for $9.99.
