5.0 out of 5 stars No complaints!
Very good - lives up to Pyrex reputation. The large handles are very nice - my wife doesn't burn herself anymore or gets the kitchen gloves dirty with the food inside the plate

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT buy Pyrex glassware!

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT buy Pyrex glassware!, August 5, 2010

I used this pie plate for the first time today. I was really excited to get it, since I've been using my mother's Pyrex glassware to bake with for years. Thirty seconds after I put it in the oven, I heard a loud pop. It had exploded all over the oven. I was shocked, since I hadn't done anything differently from the many other times I've used Pyrex. I was lucky I closed the oven door right away, because otherwise I might have had some serious cuts. Obviously if you transfer a glass dish from, say, the fridge to the oven or vice versa, you would expect it to break - but not transferring a baking dish from the room-temperature countertop to the warm oven! I looked it up and found that this has been a common experience for Pyrex users in the last five years.

I don't know why the older Pyrex is fine, but this stuff is dangerous. Maybe they changed the formula or something. Be careful!

Pyrex Grip Rite 9 1/2 inch pie plate, clear My husband loves to make pumpkin pie from pumpkins from his garden. We had already a pyrix pie dish without the grips. It is sure nice thou to have the grips. And his pies come out tasting very good.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pyrex no longer uses borosilicate glass, November 30, 2011
By
This review is from: Pyrex Grip-Rite 9 1/2 Inch Pie Plate, Clear (Kitchen)
My baking dish cracked upon transferring it from the refrigerator to the oven (similar to other experiences reviewers have noted).

For many years I associated Pyrex with high quality kitchen glassware, that could be used and abused without worry. But, a few years ago the Corning corporation spun off the Pyrex brand, that was eventually purchased by the privately held World Kitchen LLC. In a cost-cutting maneuver (i.e. short sighted profit-grab), World Kitchen / Pyrex stopped using Borosilicate glass that gave Pyrex its durability (resistance to thermal shock), and now uses cheap soda-lime glass, which does not have the durability of the old Pyrex glassware. So, nowadays when you buy "Pyrex", you really are just paying a premium price for the name - it no longer has the high quality glass that used to set it apart from the cheaper kitchen wares.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thinner than most, September 27, 2010

I found the glass to be thinner (and perhaps more breakable) than other Pyrex pie plates I've used. I was also disappointed to find the better, thicker ones at my local Target for less money. Overall, it's a fine pan and serves it purpose.

I have three of these dishes and they stack quite nicely in my cabinet. I primarily use them for apple pie and pot pie, but they are great for dredging, too. It's not a fancy dish, but I've found that people don't care so much about the dish as the contents of the dish ;).

I like this Pyrex clear glass pie plate. It turns out excellent pies and is durable in the dishwasher. It can tolerate a fairly quick move from oven to refrigerator without breaking. I like the nice large handles. I have some fancy decorative pie plates but this is the one I trust when I put a lot of effort into making a pie.

I ordered several of these pie plates for my daughters as they had the look of my mother-in-law's, old fashioned and sturdy.

Glass is better than metal, or tin foil. It cooks the crust evenly and completely. Very nice

I have many Pyrex Pie Plates and use them all, I just got Pyrex Grip-Rite 9-1/2 Inch Pie Plate Clear and I couldn't wait to Bake with it, I do like the handles they are much bigger and easier to grab especially if you're wearing oven mittens, it feels very solid and well made. I do not expose the Pie Plate to rapid temperature changes, like taking it from the refrigerator into the oven or vice versa

I never had any problems with the others they all do a Great job and is the one my Family Bakes with all the time. We never use it under the broiler or on top of the stove we know better than that and I wash them by hand. I Posted Pictures of all the Baking we do Check them out, see if you like them. Thank You
