Pyrex Prepware 4-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Lid and Measurements

I checked the calibration against a scientific beaker and the Pyrex is almost 2 ounces short for 4 cups; none of the marks were accurate.
It's great for mixing batter (heavy enough to stay put on the counter) and the pour spout & lid are very useful.
Of course, there's sentiment: my mother used Pyrex exclusively. (The bowls were avocado! & the casseroles a gold floral pattern.)
However, if you need accurate measures, try oxo or another brand.

Last night I measured 4 cups of boiling water into this pyrex dish to pour into a recipe, poured the water and set it down on the counter. As I started to walk away it sounded like a gunshot. The glass was all over in a 5 foot radius. I just got this measuring cup for x-mas, it is new. Just do a search for exploding pyrex and you will see that I am not the only one this has happened to with newer pyrex. I am just glad it didn't explode with the boiling water in it, and burn my feet or my dogs. Buyers Beware!!!!

I bought this and the 2 cup pyrex measuring cup with the lid and I absolutely love them both! This one is great for storing leftover batter in and pouring it out into the pan later, as in pancake batter. No more mess. It is easy to read with the big numbers and the best part is the lid, it strains and pours as well. The lid fits snuggly, also a plus.
I am so glad I bought it.

My mom and grandma have both used Pyrex casserole dishes, measuring cups, and mixing bowls for decades, and I grew up with those colorful pieces on our table. Naturally, I wanted to purchase some of those items for myself. I have a 1 cup, 2 cup and now this 4 cup measuring cup in my kitchen, and I use all three sizes on a daily basis. This four cup size is especially nifty for things like chopped fruits and veggies, beaten eggs, and cream. I like the lid that is included since I can pop this in the fridge overnight or for a few hours if needed, and I don't need to dirty another dish or waste plastic wrap or foil. The lid feels like a rubbery silicone material and is very flexible and easy to wash. I love Pyrex stuff and I wish they would come out with more pieces with colors and designs like they used to make. I have never had any Pyrex explode on me, but I do believe the people who have reported theirs exploding. As with any glass, you have to be extremely careful with sudden temperature changes. The packaging states that is is freezer, microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe, but that doesn't mean you should put hot liquid in one of these and then pop it in the freezer immediately afterwards. To me, there is nothing better than Pyrex for my baking and serving needs, and I will continue to buy their products for years to come.

After receiving this 4-cuper w/lid I ordered the 1 & 2 cupers w/lids. Great for microwaving stuff with lid in place. Far superiour to the plastic types.

I bought this cup because I am left handed and most measuring cups have the US measurments on the side for right handed people. I have to take the cup in my right hand to measure. This cup has the numbers on both sides so it works perfectly for me or anyone else. I haven't thought of a reason to use the lid yet, but I am sure I will.

The only problem with it is it is a little heavy.

This cup nests well with my batter bowl and one and two cup measuring cups. The lid so far had stayed true to fit. It pours well and stains freshly squeezed juice sufficiently.

I have 3 pyrex measuring cups. I bought this one bec I make my own salad dressing every 2 days and store the rest in the fridge. I got tired of wasting saran wrap to cover. Naturally you would buy the cup with the lid to keep things fresh. Unfortunately, this is not even close to airtight. The "seal part" goes straigt down the glass and does not seal off the outside air. And it does not keep other smells from creeping in. The spout on the glass is good for pouring. The lid is something else to wash. It is useless.

This is a nice item for microwaving and then storing leftovers in the refrigerator, especially for liquids and soup. I especially liked the idea of including a lid with the container. However, I have arthritis, and I find it very difficult to remove the lid. It is soft, "seats" well, and it is hard for me to grasp the indented "handle." A hard lid with a real handle would be much easier to use.

Update: Despite my earlier comment, I have found that it really is easy to remove the cap and the lid creates a very nice storage container without needing to use another dish. I learned to simply push in on the lid through the pouring spout instead of trying to "lift" it from the top.

I just bought this here a little while ago - turns out pyrex is NO LONGER made of the same product. I poured hot water into it, and it exploded into shattered shards all over my kitchen, I burned my leg and foot.
