It is difficult to categorize QOPH. The band come from Sweden and plays a mix of progressive rock, stoner rock, and jam rock that makes for a unique sound. After seeing them live the lead vocalist reminds me a lot of Jim Morrison and indeed there seems to be a Doors influence to some of their music as well. I also hear similarities to 70's bands like Blue Oyster Cult. However you describe it this is a great disc. The songs are well written and there is plenty of heavy (although not metal) hard rock jamming to sink your teeth into. There is a definite retro vibe to all of this, but the band bring enough modern technique to the project that the music is far from stale. Highlights include the opening track "Woodrose", "Korea", "Moontripper" and the closing track "Fractions". Really this whole album is worth a listen. I would think that if this band could ever get some exposure they could go far.
