Book Description

Complete Reference September 21, 2001
Python is an intergrated, object-orientated development language for use in computer programming. This text is split into distinct sections, each concentrating on a core angle of the language. The book also contains sections for Web and application development, the two most popular uses for Python. It is designed to teach a programmer how to use Python by explaining the mechanics of Python. The appendixes offer a quick guide to the main features of the Python language, as well as additional guides to non-essential systems such as the IDLE development environment and general guidelines for migrating from another language.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing special, just a reference, April 22, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Python: The Complete Reference (Paperback)
As the title implies, this book is just a reference (covering
up to python version 2.0.) The text is understable and
provides a central repository of the same material
you can get from the official documentation in the web
(python.org) The first 140 pages are a tutorial covering
the essencials of the language with several samples (these
are too trivial in my opinion) following with about 240 pages
describing the Python module library (again, the examples
are trivial.) There are also some chapters related with
the "internals" of Python, but no one is really "deep".
Resuming, sadly I think this book (as many in these times)
can be easily substituted with the web with little effort.
