Published in 1981, this was a good buy for its time. The usual development is traced, along with historical accounts from the battlefield. Good selection of B&W photos to support the text and color plates to show the camoflague colors used by the German Army.

I gave it only 3 stars because it had only one photo of the inside of the tank and no line drawings.

The author points out that armor historians will agree that tank for tank, the Panther was the best of WW2, but there were not enough of them, they were too complicated and difficult to manufacture. This book is too small to really delve into any of that, but that does not take away from the overall enjoyment of this work.
