3.0 out of 5 stars We may never know why it was called Q-billion..., July 9, 2010

In Q-billion, you are a mouse. You are in a building, but you want out. In order to reach the outside, you must make your way through 40 rooms, each with a myriad of stacked boxes.

Problem: you are an obsessive-compulsive mouse, and cannot leave a room that has stacked boxes.

If you wish to leave the building, you must unstack every box. Being a mouse, you can only shove a single box at a time; you cannot shove stacks around. Nor can you shove a box out from under the boxes on top of it. However, you CAN shove a box that is on top of other boxes, providing that you are sitting RIGHT next to it.

Conveniently, each room has JUST the right composition of boxes to allow you to unstack every box, given your constraints.

And that is Q-billion in a nutshell. It is a strange but also a surprisingly entertaining puzzle game. Some later levels get quite difficult and frustrating. The graphics are incredibly basic but adequate; the music is quite obnoxious.

There are 2 modes of play: Type A and Type B. Type A has 40 preset puzzles, 10 of which have to be unlocked with a password (obtained upon beating the first 30). Type B is a sort of "battle mode" which uses a randomly generated puzzle. You can play B against the CPU (or a friend, if you have the right equipment).

I recommend the game to fans of puzzle games, and possibly also to retro or Game Boy fans. It's a solid little title and just a bit different from most puzzle games I've played. The randomly generated puzzles of play Type B also gives the game some decent replay value.
