Book Description

September 1, 2006 Q Guide To...

For over sixty years, soap operas have been a staple of TV. But how did a genre devoted to lonely housewives become a Mecca for the gay community? With interviews with soap veterans and insiders, this funny, bitch-slapping guide will pile on the melodrama.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fun read!, September 13, 2006
This review is from: The Q Guide to Soap Operas (Paperback)
As a fan of soaps for the past thirty years, I had a blast reading this smart, funny, and insightful look into the queer side of soaps. Coleridge's writing style is fun and hip, yet he is also keenly aware with his analysis. I loved this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hunks, Hussies, Harlots & Homos, September 19, 2006
This review is from: The Q Guide to Soap Operas (Paperback)
Daniel Coleridge knows -- and loves -- his soaps. And with his unique voice and fun style, he takes readers by the hand and tells them everything the need to know (and some things they might never have even thought to ask!) about not only the shows, but the stars who make the medium shine. Although Coleridge's book is aimed at a gay audience, that's not to say anyone who enjoys soaps won't find his entertaining and info-packed romp as much fun as a week of slapfests and catfights.

The book offers an insiders view behind the screen, with interviews galore (including one with that grandest of daytime divas, All My Children's Susan Lucci herself), backstage gossip and several quizes which may leave even viewers who never miss an episode scratching their heads.

All in all, Coleridge's take on soaps is fun, frothy, fact-filled... everything a fan could possibly hope for!
