5.0 out of 5 stars q-see qd28414w
i upgraded the cameras on my q-see quad dvr security camera system. these cameras have a better picture than the stock qsm2018(w). the 74 degrees of view is far superior to the stock cameras. the ir leds arent as bright as the stock cameras which is a drawback. but the image alone is clear and the colors are vivid.

The cameras are pretty good looking but from my expierence they do not hold up well. I've put 24 of them in use over the past 12 to 18 months and have had failures on 3 right out of the box (which Q-see replaced under their 1yr. only warrantee). The others after the 1yr was up have failed at a rate of 1-in-4/25%. The night vision is not very effective outside at night maybe 10 ft. with recognizable images; indoor is better but 30 ft is a strech. The lenses or electronics fog white and it is not moisture it's poor construction materials (I'm surprised Sony lets their name be associated with this product). If you shop Amazon on a regular basis you will find this camera as low as 53.00 each in packs of 4 with wires and brackets. Thats a good price because you have to consider it to be a disposable. If you buy them from Q-see the're 100.00 plus shipping?? Pardon my spelling

2.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor video cam didn't last, July 26, 2011

Installed on west side of house so the camera received the afternoon sun. Lasted about 9 months before image stopped. Contacted supplier who was very helpful, but I was beyond the warranty period. Would not recommend for an outdoor installation. Picture quallity was fair, suggest going with the sony super had ccd with 520 lines for a sharper image.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor night vision, Day image washed out by sunlight, December 12, 2009

This review is from: Q-See QD28414W Weatherproof Outdoor/Indoor Color CCD Camera Kit with 30-Feet Night Vision and Sony Image Sensor (Electronics)
Pros:
Small footprint
Easy mount to ceiling / wall
Decent daytime image if lack of contrast in field of view

Cons:
Lack of adequate IR light array
Poor night vision - very grainy night image
Cannot distinguish facial characteristics at night past short distance
Sunlight past carport entrance completely washed out 1/4 of viewing area in daytime

Overall, very disappointed with camera image quality. My Swann Bulldog far superior, although much smaller field of view. I am changing this camera out for a Clover HDC560.

1.0 out of 5 stars Q-see QD28414W Camera, December 12, 2009
This review is from: Q-See QD28414W Weatherproof Outdoor/Indoor Color CCD Camera Kit with 30-Feet Night Vision and Sony Image Sensor (Electronics)
Have planned a home surveillance system and bought a Q-See 8-camera kit.
My calculations are that the QD28414W cameras have a 48 deg field of view only,
not the 74° advertised. From 20' away, the view is 9' in each direction at right angles.
Calls to Q-See would not explain the discrepancy.
