DVR Features

16 Channel H.264 DVR
Supported Hard Drive
This system can support 1 SATA hard drive up to 2 Terabytes (hard drive not included). A hard drive allows you to record and store video footage. The amount of footage that you can save on the hard drive before needing to over-write footage will depend on the size of the hard drive, recording and resolution settings you select during setup.
Recording Resolution
The QS206 surveillance recorder captures video in CIF real-time providing smooth video playback at 30 frames per second per channel at a playback resolution of 352x240.
Remote Surveillance
Stay in touch on the go! Remotely monitor and manage your home or office 24/7 from anywhere around the world via the internet. Enjoy additional peace of mind by receiving instant email alerts with snapshot images when motion is detected, when the hard drive is full, or when and if video loss has occurred. Up to 5 users can remotely log into the DVR at the same time and dual-stream technology allows for easier internet access with lower bandwidths.
Connect up to 16 Cameras
Connect up to 16 surveillance cameras using BNC video connections with the option for the cameras to be equipped with audio.
H.264 Compression
H.264 Compression minimizes file size in order to maximize the hard drive’s recording time, as well as transfer video for viewing over the internet.
Convenient Backup
Backup video files from the surveillance system to a PC, Flash Drive or USB Hard Drive in order to free-up space for new video while retaining important footage.
Display Resolution
When watching video live, the display resolution is 704x480. When playing back previously recorded video, the resolution will depend on the recording settings selected during setup.
Connects to a Monitor
Display on any TV or 19" or larger PC Monitor (16 BNC outputs, 1 BNC, 1 VGA output). The system supports multiple VGA resolution settings: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1366x768, and 1440x900
Three Viewing Modes

http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/photo/QSEE/B004SH5ULA/Icon_ThreeViewingModes_WEB._V177367765_.jpg

Select from 3 different viewing modes:
  • Single Cam: Display 1 camera at a time.
  • Multi-Cam: Display 2 or 4 cameras at once on a split screen.
  • Timed Auto-Sequence: Display a timed-auto sequence, which shows each camera for a few seconds and rotates the view through all cameras one at a time.
Three Search Options
Quickly find previously recorded video by searching in one of three ways:
  • Time: search video within a specific time frame.
  • Motion Detection Event: search video by occurrences of motion.
  • Alarm Triggered Event: search video by items that triggered an alert.
Navigation Menus
The user-friendly interface, along with the accompanying mouse and remote control, make moving through the program menus a breeze.
Four Recording Modes
Select from 4 different recording modes:
  • Advanced Motion Detection: Advanced motion detection settings help to minimize false alarms. The easy-to-use motion detection set-up screen allows you to mask out certain areas which frequently experience heavy movement in order to avoid false alarms and unnecessary triggers.
  • Time-Schedule: Record based on a pre-set schedule that you choose depending on your needs. For example, only at night, only during office hours or only during non-business hours.
  • Alarm Sensor Trigger: Only records when the alarm sensor has been triggered. The sensor can be configured to various sensitivities to eliminate non-critical motion triggers. (Alarm sensor not included.)
  • Manual: When set to manual, the system can be turned on to record 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or until you manually turn it off.
Multi-Tasking Functionality
The multi-tasking feature allows up to five functions to occur on the system at one time: record video, watch live video or playback video, while also monitoring and managing the system remotely, and also backing up files.

I installed this in a small business and connected their cameras to it after their DVR died. This works good. Installed a 2 TB SATA hard drive as that was the largest it says it supports.

Pros:

- Hardware setup was easy for it to be working. Installing the hard drive took a second to figure out the brackets as they could go numerous ways but would only work correctly one way.

- Connecting the monitor and the cameras was no issue.

Cons:

- The internal software is not great. It did come with the latest firmware which was good. However the firmware appears written very simply. It is pretty easy to figure out.

- The documentation is very limited also.

- The external software to view the cameras is not very easy to set up and configure. It says you can view directly from a web page, I tried that on numerous PC's. Never got it to display video. I installed the software and got that working on half the PC's in the business. the other half would show connected but wouldn't actually display the video.

- The tech support says 24/7 on the box but that is not accurate. I tried to call numerous times to diagnose why some PC's would view the cameras right and never actually got through to anyone. Also the website says they only work 9:30 (maybe 9) pacific to 5pm.

- Playback to find an incident is limited also and requires downloading and then viewing, don't see how to just hit rewind and view it.

Ignoring the cons, for the price, the system does record video and has actually helped already with an incident.
They have just designed it to be harder to use than it need be.

works without issue. Would be nice to use a large heat sink instead of the continually running fan.
after the warranty I will remove the fan,

I bought a ZMODO DVR and on that first day i purchased it, it didn't even record my videos and dvr kept on freezing and restarting.
Then I bought the Qsee QS206 DVR 16 channels and Its been working excellent and perfectly since april 30th 2012. Its 7 months now and it is working very well, up and running smoothly, and I am still able to continue to record my surveillance videos. I inserted the 1tb Sata hard drive..which WORKS FLAWLESSLY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE WHO HAD PROBLEMS WITH OTHER COMPANY DVR's.

I finally decided to write a review for the Q-see qs206 I bought a few months back from Amazon. So far I am very impressed and happy that I bought this thing. I bought my house about 5 months ago and when I met the elderly next door neighbor she told me that two houses on the block were burglarized. I found out later that the burglaries happened 5 years ago, but the neighbor is old and she left that part out. Anyways, I decided that I would like some security and did some research. I read an article about this guy who monitored his house's security cameras from his Iphone and saw someone rummaging around in his house, called the police and the guy was arrested (I love stories like that!). So one of my priorities was to be able to instantly look at all my security cameras from my Android phone. I also wanted to be able to monitor my cameras from any computer, my laptop for example. I also wanted LOTS of cameras, or at least the ability to hook up lots of cameras. Also, since I don't have a security system installed just yet I wanted some kind on notification of detected motion in the house. Finally I wanted value (hey, I just bought a house and those aren't cheap where I live: SF Peninsula). After browsing Amazon for about 20 minuets I ordered the QS206. I got it all configured in about an hour or more without too much difficulties. The software is pretty easy to use and not too complicated (pretty basic really). For some reason the mouse pointer did not show up at first, but after configuring some settings it shows up now, I don't know what that is all about. I went to the Q-see website and searched the support page and did not find too much documentation. Later, I googled "QS206" and found a product specific page for the QS206 (tinyurl.com/7gbrluz for easy reference).Read more ›

Q-See told us all QS models would work with Multiviewer so we bought a QS458 for the house and a QS 206 for the shop. Now after weeks of trying to get them to work together and many calls to Q-See, we find out they are not compatible. Amazon will only give us half of the $200 the QS206 cost so we are really screwed now. I have to buy a new QS 4816 which is $400 and it's too late to get full credit on the QS206 if I return it. I'm pretty pissed aobut this.
