The blades on this machine to be EXTREMELY, (and I do mean EXTREMELY) S-H-A-R-P.! Think of the sharpest blade you have ever come across -- a razor-blade, or very, very sharp knife -- and you will have some idea of the EXTREME sharpness of these blades. Yep -- even I knicked myself on these blades, before I realized how very, very, VERY sharp they are. Of course, this exteme sharpness makes for extremely good and powerful cutting action -- but one should be aware of this sharpness before purchasing this item, especially if there are small children in the house, who usually have NO limits at all on their curiousity and mischieveness.

These blades cut VERY well, and do every job advertised! Some blenders do their jobs by having a large wattage or ampere rating -- but the Ninja does it with very, very sharp blades. It is more powerful, in making my prized receipe for thick, heavy salmon moule, than even my beloved Vita Mix 5200, (a great machine....for most things.) Just be sure to "prep" the Ninja first, by pulsing a few times to break up the batter a bit first. Those sharp blades sure know to chop things up, and usually, no water or liquid at all is needed! Amazing!

On the negative side, though, it must be mentioned that both the large set of blades, (which fit into the larger blender-size container), and the small set of blades, (which fit into the mini-container), come in TWO SEPARATE PARTS. So, you get a total of four
blade parts. THE BLADE PARTS MUST BE FITTED TOGETHER FIRST, AND/OR DROPPED SEPARATELY, ON TOP OF EACH OTHER, INTO THE APPROPRIATE CONTAINER. Why EURO-PRO did not put both blade parts together, so the user would have only one blade-part to put into each container, is beyond me. The half-blade parts are obviously smaller, and are easier to lose, in both dishwasher or with hand-washing. There is also a small rubbery-plastic part that fits into bowl part, where the blade is dropped in. It is very small and easy to lose, and if it's lost, it's impossible to put the blades in properly.

The main difference, (the only difference, as far as I can see, anyway), between this item and the Euro-Pro QB900 Ninja Master Prep, also offered here on Amazon, is that the item here will give you two extra mini-blend containers for an extra $10.

Also, the "Master Pod" top part is rather heavy, compared to the rest of the set. After all, the hand-held "Master Pod" is where the motor
is housed! It takes a bit of getting used to, holding this comparatively heavy part, (roughly weighing about a pound-and-a-half), and, though handling this part shouldn't be any trouble at all for normally-abled people, if you're handicapped, and sometimes find it hard to lift anything even as light as a pound and a half, I'd think twice about buying this admittedly nifty little machine. Also, one must always KEEP one's finger pressed down ON the "Master Pod" button, to make the Ninja blender work. Because of the power and sharpness of the blades, oen doesn't really have to keep one's finger on the Master Pod button very long -- but if this is problem, please be aware of it. Unlike traditional blenders, or even the "Magic Bullet" machines, one CANNOT use the "Ninja" Blender unless constantly attending to it and pressing down on the top button...

I've also found that preparing a VERY SMALL amount of food is impossible in this machine, because the blades -- unlike those of most other blenders I've used -- do NOT reach all the way to the bottom of the containers-- even the mini-containers. In this, it's just like the Vitamix. What do I mean by a small amount? Well, you can't mix one or two eggs in either of the NINJA containers -- because they will not even reach the bottom blade, which is about an inch from the bottom of the container. For mixing such little amounts, use a conventional, "Osterizer/ Waring" type blender, or the "Magic Bullet" series of blenders. This is an important fact to remember, as so many people live by themselves these days, and sometimes only WANT to mix only one or two eggs, etc.

But the NINJA does the job -- all its jobs -- so very well. Just keep its few short-comings in mind before you decide if this machine is really the one for you. Just like Ninja warriors, it's fast, nimble, works on simple, easy-to-understand, (but VERY powerful!), principles, and looks deceptively simple, sitting there on your counter!

I just bought this, and I was a little skeptical at first. When I brought it home, I wanted to try it out immediately.. so I filled it up with huge ice cubes and when I turned it on, it turned into really fine snow in about 3 seconds, with no chunks at all. I made margaritas the next night and they were perfect! I would highly recommend this product. It is a great investment, considering it takes the place of a blender and a food processor. I bought mine at Sam's club for $50.

This is my first video review, so here goes nothing! A couple of notes: I repeatedly said Ninja Master Pro, it's Ninja Master Prep. I got mine with bonus accessories for under fifty dollars. I love it!! Something I did wrong in my video review that I just learned. When making ice based drinks, do the ice on it's own first, then add your other ingredients. It makes the ice more like snow then baby ice chunks. As far as gadgets, this might intrique a non-cook into cooking. So far, I've made hummus, chicken salad, cheese dip, ice cream and herb/garlic breadcrumbs and a few various drinks.

For those people who rely on a food processor as their main go-to item when cooking, this might not be your thing. But for people like me, who tend to chop by hand while cooking for two and pull it out about twice a year, it's perfect. I also am not a huge blender user, though this will get me to try new things, since it's got 400 watts of power and seems like it can make just about anything. Lastly, dishwasher safe is a huge plus as well.

I also wanted to make sure I was clear about the differences in the one I received vs. what you might find here on amazon or on the ninja master prep site. On those two sites specifically, I've seen it for sale with the ninja pod unit, a blender accessory and a 2 cup processor accessory. Some other places(wholesale clubs and a few tv shopping networks) have it with 2 more added accessories, for the same price(or less!). It's definitely worth poking around and finding the one that comes with 4 accessories total.

Be kind to the ninja pod. Always use it in bursts and don't hold it down. I've heard of other ninja owners stripping the gears by holding it down trying to use it like a traditional blender. It's not meant to be used that way.

ICE CREAM:
no lie, I just made ice cream in about 2 minutes. I am shocked and amazed. I used 1/2 and 1/2, white chocolate pudding mix(for flavor) and frozen strawberries with a few semi-sweet chocolate chips thrown in, which it totally shredded and integrated into it. Seriously, it's like bought ice cream, but better. A-mazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have!, November 21, 2009

So often there are what should be good ideas which are so poorly implemented that you just have to toss the item in the trash. Well the Ninja is NOT one of those! It's fantastic! The design is extremely well thought out, and it simply works! It's super easy to clean, with all dishwasher safe parts (except the motor, obviously!) and very easy to assemble and take apart.

I particularly like the way the whole blade assembly is not hooked directly into the pitcher or chopping cup. There is just a little pin at the bottom of each that it sits on while it spins, and the assembly is driven from the top where the motor just rests on the drive shaft. It comes right out without fuss and there are no little crevices in either cup or pitcher that make it hard to clean properly.

Chopping worked great. It does a great job of actually chopping, instead of turning things into mush like my old Magic Bullet did. It's quick, not overly loud, and will even make short work of turning chicken breasts into ground chicken. (I made meatballs for a soup.) Additionally, since the blade assembly slips right out, I didn't have any trouble getting my ingredients back out to the last shred, like with the older style blenders.

This one is a keeper in my kitchen! Fabulous!

1.0 out of 5 stars Ninja Does not hold up- Rubber Gasket pieces in my drink, March 10, 2010

This review is from: SA EO QB900 NINJA MASTER PREP CHOPPER
I bought this after have several magic bullets failed. I used it about 4 times a week for 3 months to make a protein drink with some type of berries. Two issues came up for me:

1) I had difficulty lining up the EXACT positioning to get the motor to work. This sometimes took 1-3 attempts to get the lid lined up correctly to get the motor to work. It eventually did. I did not mind this except when I was in a hurry. The mixer was fine (so far) for what i was doing.

2) 2nd issue, more of a concern as it rendered the machine useless. I turned the machine on and when I went to pour, the rubber gasket was in the base pitcher. I found both a plastic holder and lots of pieces of rubber in my drink. I called QVC where I bought it and asked for a replacement lid....not the whole pitcher...just the lid. They said they would inform the manufacturer. It's been more than two weeks and I have not received an email, lid or any type of response.

I do not make a complicated drink. 1 piece of ice, 2 scoops of protein, about 3-4 cut up strawberries or 1/3 cup of blueberries and water or soy milk. Not particularly thick at all.

If I could find a simply drink mixer that works< so I don't have to lug my Kitchenaid out to mix a quick 8 oz drink, my life would be easier. I would be willing to spend to buy a high quality drink mixer that is quick and easy to clean and WORKS for more then 2 or 3 months. (2 Magic Bullets and 1 Sunbeam have also failed.) I have yet to find one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Works great then breaks, February 17, 2010
This review is from: SA EO QB900 NINJA MASTER PREP CHOPPER
Beware, the plastic will only last a few months at best if you use this device often. You can replace the motor for about $30 on the website but seriously.......why not just give the customer four extra plastic parts. If you don't mind paying the $15-$30 every time it breaks buy one. On another note customer service is outsourced to india so be prepared for major confusion on the phone. Beware of the magic bullet, the rubber seal will strip out and break in a few months of use. I am moving on to an industrial blender and scrapping these two money pits. You get what you pay for.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for me, December 27, 2009
This review is from: SA EO QB900 NINJA MASTER PREP CHOPPER
I make smoothies every day for my lunch (protein, berry, etc.) and so I asked my wife for an updated smoothie maker for Christmas and she got me the Ninja. It may be designed right for some people but not for me. Why? Because:

- You can't just turn it on and leave it on; you have to babysit it and hold down the on/off mechanism.
- You can't easily add protein or other ingredients to mixing drinks. There's no opening to add such things.
- You can't easily add more liquid to drinks that have too much ice/frozen fruit in it.
- There are multiple blades/parts to clean vs. just a pitcher to wash out.

Back to the store, I'm afraid.

This amazing machine turns ice cubes into snow in seconds. I can't say enough good about it. If you want to make your own slushies or just enjoy shaved ice. This machine will make you very happy. As one reviewer already said, the blades are VERY sharp. Be careful with it, keep it away from the kids and I think you'll love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says, hope it keeps working, April 3, 2010
This review is from: SA EO QB900 NINJA MASTER PREP CHOPPER
I found my Ninja at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It was marked down to $40 and with my coupon I paid $32.I bought this machine to use in my motorhome since it would store easily and also be easy to clean. I don't have room for my juice machine, Vitamix, grinder and food processor that I use regularly for making fruit and vegetable juices and homemade dog food. It does a decent job of chopping and blending. It is better than the Magic Bullet. It easily processes ice as they say. I am now making pretty decent stawberry chocolate ice cream. It cannot come close to replacing my Vitamix but then the ad does not say that it does. Logic tells you that a $32 machine cannot do what a $300 machine can do. I find myself using it more than expected for small jobs and hope mine will keep working. Pulsing is the key. Unlike a regular blender or Vitamix you can't just turn it on and leave it run. I expect if you keep it on too long it will damage the motor. I consider it another neat kitchen gadget if you like gadgets. If not for my specific need and based on the problems others have had I probably would not have bought it.
