Serenity - Firefly Metal Keychain

It's a keychain, it's the ship. I love it, but who the hell decided to put these big hooks on the back? It isn't part of the ship design. It's almost like someone intentionally decided to make this keychain snag or stab things whenever possible. I've seriously been looking at pictures of the ship and trying to figure out why there are two big hooks on the back and can't for the life of me figure it out.

Anyway, I just pulled them off as they're just glued on anyway.

Ever feel like the "combine" of repressive society is closing in all around you? Perhaps you wear a uniform at school or work. You have to submit to weekly pat downs at your local airport. You have to kiss the customer's buck even though he's not always right. Or maybe you've just been summoned for jury duty... Now's your opportunity to remind yourself of that freedom we browncoats yearn for. Grin and bear it and know that your own little piece of individualism is nestled safely in your pocket away from prying eyes. A small reminder that: "You can't take this guy from me..." What's that? The Sky? It's not "this guy"? Oh. Well, that makes a lot more sense...

I found this to be a pretty high quality keychain and a great replica of Serenity.
However, I don't think the two curved prongs that come out the back of the ship are nearly
as durable as they should be. After a few months of using it they fell off. It was normal
use, as normal as you would expect a keychain to be used anyway. It was fairly disappointing
that the keychain broke after such a short time and I do not want to get a new one.

Firefly is my favorite show and I've been looking for ways to show it. This keychain of Serenity is perfect. It's very strong, small enough to not get in the way but noticable so you can brag to others about your amazing taste in good television. Love it.

As per other posts, we removed the metal protrusions, so no snags or pocket discomfort. They actually are pictured on Serenity in the Firefly companion book we bought from Amazon also...

This keychain is perfect for diehard fans. Very durable - the only thing I dislike is the weight, but that makes it that much more noticable! Showing it off is my number one priority.

It's a pocket Serenity! I almost don't want to put it in my pocket because it should be on display. Luckily it's solid metal, doesn't scratch or dent easily at all. There's very few models of Serenity out there to begin with, so this is a must have.

I really like this keychain. Just looking at it gives me the warm fuzzies in my heart. It's a good replica and well-made, with the HUGE exception of the two prongs sticking out the back side. These things are too fragile and poke the fabric of my pocket all the time. Once they got bent, and while I was able to adjust them properly, I decided to retire this from active duty as a keychain. Which brings me to my next complaint: I wanted to hang it from the rear view mirror of my car, but the chain attaches to the back, not the top. I would have to cut the loop on the back and then rig up something so it would hang correctly. So for now, it just sits on my dashboard. I'm disappointed, but I still smile when I see it.

Looks great, solid metal. Body of the ship is one solid piece with one small piece glued on the rear of the ship. Cons: 1) heavier than your average key chain (not good for the ignition, so i've heard), and 2) the glued piece comes off relatively easily you keep in in your pocket/purse.

Me and my wife are pretty big FF fans and this is just one of those little things that lets you identify with others who loved the show too. It has no moving parts on the Firefly itself, and is very solid with decent detailing. If you like lots of things on your keychain you may have to pick and choose what your going to keep on as this gets pretty heavy and un-comfortible in the pocket if your a guy...for those with purse its a win win. Also doubles as a rape prevention flail.
