I have always been a user of the typical TN panel ranging from all types of sizes. My previous display was an Asus model which had a very fast refresh rate of 2ms alongside unnoticeable input lag. I did find myself trying to calibrate the monitor to look at least nearly as good as my Samsung HDTV, but that was impossible. Colors either became over saturated or unnatural in tone. Also there was a sort of slight distortion to the image caused by the coating on the panel. I then began to just suck it up and realize this monitor is simply not engineered for color accuracy and clarity, but rather for hardcore gamers who need the insane response times. Later on, I upgraded to the Dell S2740L. This is a 1080p IPS monitor that immediately struck me with its level of clarity and color accuracy that was before me thanks to IPS technology. Unfortunately, at 27" along with the typical viewing distance of a PC monitor, the image really didn't have that crisp and sharp look that my Asus gave me. It was until I sat unnaturally far back that the 1080p resolution was fine. The keyboard and mouse then became out of reach...

So my search continued and I stumbled upon 1440p 27" monitors. Then I came across this craze of Korean based monitors utilizing panels found in far more expensive units that were simply not 100% quality assured. Skeptic, I did my research and read, read, and read until my eyes bled. Then I did it; I clicked "confirm purchase". Amazingly, the monitor took just 1 day to arrive to my house from Korea, which 'till this day, I don't know how on Earth that was possible especially since the shipping was free. The packaging was pretty straight forward providing the monitor with adequate protection to insure it won't arrive as useful as a broom stick.

Verified Purchase
I was looking into getting a second 24" monitor for my graphics and design work and settled on either the ASUS PA248Q (which had a beautiful design, USB 3.0 on the display and good reviews) or the Dell U2412 ( good warranty, good reviews as well). In my research I began to read about these Korean panel monitors - basically high quality panels that have minor flaws so they fail the highest quality control standards but are good enough to be repackaged and sold at a discounted rate. I found this QNIX QX2710 and review on the internet seemed to be good.

Risk vs Reward -
My first concern was getting this product from South Korea - specifically if it had some flaws or was damaged how return would work. I imagine international returns would be a pain but all reviews were great and everyone seemed to be getting good quality monitors. It was worth the risk with such good reviews to get a bigger, high quality non branded 27" monitor from abroad vs a 24" brand named monitor for about the same price.

I took the plunge and glad I did. After ordering, shipping was estimated to be over a month but the product actually arrived in 7 days. Fed Ex requires a signature but monitor was packaged extremely well.

What you get -
My screen came flawless. No dead pixels and I can't see any noticeable light bleeding. Consistent with the quality that most of the other reviewers have reported. Matte finish is great. I wont go into how the display looks as many reviews on amazon and other sites have already gone into this but I will concur that this is an incredible picture. Big, bright beautiful, white whites and pretty black blacks. Colors are vibrant. Screen was bright out of the box and had to be turned down a bit but that's it.

As of late, Korean IPS monitors became popular among PC enthusiasts and gamers in America and Europe as a cheaper alternative to buying expensive IPS monitors locally from the known brands such as Dell and HP. Well, if these Korean monitors have the same Samsung and LG panels inside them just like in the Dell and HP ones, how can they be offered this cheap? I guess it's safe to assume that this monitor and the other cheap Korean IPS monitors use panels bought from Samsung and LG after failing a minimum quality check in the original factories. Which means, the chances of receiving a "perfect" monitor if you buy this one are very low. It was not even made perfect in the first place. But should that stop you from buying it? I'd say NO! I bought it and I'm absolutely amazed by it. I'm happy my monitor has no dead pixels and I accept the fact that it has some backlight bleeding on the top and bottom. The latter is obviously where it originally failed to meet a standard so the panel can make it to a $1000 product.

My QNIX QX2710 monitor replaced an ASUS VE278Q 27" 1080p one. Out of the box, it blows it out of the water it's not even funny. And that ASUS was damn good for a TN-panel. It's not an "Oh! I upgraded to something newer so it's gotta be better". I had IPS panels in the past, I just forgot how much I missed them. First time I fired up Battlefield 3 for a test, I was like "Woah! Is this is the same game?!" The motion fluidity is fantastic. It reminded me of when I see console games on TV, while the graphics may not be as high as on PC, the picture motion on TV's is more fluid than on most PC monitors. Right?

There's also a particular reason why these QNIX monitors are desired.
