I would just like to give the opposite end of the spectrum from the average written review. I bought this DVD simple on the basis of the glowing online reviews. It has become obvious to me, after two weeks of struggling, that these people didn't test it out thoroughly. I plan on returning this and moving on to the Pioneer 16x, which I had shopped for originally. The problem with this DVD-ROM is it's fussiness. It will take about half of my DVD's (25 or so) without a problem, other than the understandable software hang-ups. With the other half, it either outright never plays, freezing up the computer, or only plays when it feels like playing. To top it all off, I felt that the software that it came with was mediocre at best. The software won't play any copywrited DVD's (99%), and the interface is very early '90's. So, unless you're going to piddle around and not be serious, don't buy this thing. It's a headache, and always better to stick with name brands for DVD players to begin with. This is certainly, the last time I follow the word of Amazon shoppers.

This brings up the question of why in the heck you should listen to what I'm saying. Well, don't if you don't want to. Well, I'm not going to get off on this tangent...

I bought this DVD drive 3 monthes ago to use it for watching DVD's as well as using it as a regular CD-Rom drive. Now it ceases to work after running a few minutes. This DVD player lacks reliability. It works nice the first couple monthes of light use, with the ocassional freeze up or glitch, but after a couple monthes the drive becomes very problematic and picky in playing DVD's, and eventually just constantly freezes up your computer, forcing you to reboot over and over again. I highly DO NOT recommend this drive. I most likely will buy a name brand DVD drive next to replace this one, such as a pioneer or Toshiba. Hopefully those will be more reliable.

If you are looking to upgrade your system with a dvd drive. I would recommend purchasing this. Installation is a breeze and the Cyberlink dvd software decoder that comes along with the drive is all you need to start watching movies on your pc. The picture quality is decent (needed to adjust my display settings because the picture was too dark) and the sound is very good. Overall a solid performer.

I bought a QPS back in April, I had configuration issues right away.
I followed the tech support format and emailed them. Giving them benefit of possibly being busy or email issues I emailed four times over four weeks from seperate servers. They do not respond through support.
Now the hardware failed, I repeated the email attempts with no response and have phone support three times in two weeks to give up in Cue after 45 minutes. No 1-800 number.
Now I have a very high phone Bill coming and a useless QPS device that I will eat also.
Please don't allow companies like this to thrive, which they all too commonly do in todays market.
Buy elsewhere.

i bought this in feb and it brokedown in oct, terrible!! not worth the money i spent.

I bought this because of the price, but I can tell by the quality that it is just okay, maybe a good entry level player. If I had been smarter I would have bought pioneer.

I was reluctant to buy a DVD player, but this one really kicks! Buy it if you have the opportunity.

The QPS DVD-Rom is an amazing player and is worth the price. A VERY exeptional piece of hardware. A must have for a great value and great performance

I think that the qps dvdrom is one of the greatest dvd drives on the market,because is one of the fastest and one that have less problems when you install it, i don't own it but a close friend do, so i know what a great product the qps dvd drive is.
