My son loves his laser pointer!,

My son hasn't stopped playing with his laser pointer since he received it in the mail. He loves the constellation top that creates multiple lights all over the room (like the starry sky at night). He loves to take it outside at night time and shine his light all over. It also has a normal beam which extends way up our street. He loves it, and we highly recommend it.

Good laser!,

This review is from: QQ-Tech® 5 mW 532 nm Green 2in1 Laser Pointer with Constellation Cap Mini Stage Light (Electronics)
The laser pointer works very well. A lot of people have complained about the beam getting dim. This is due to the free batteries that come with the laser pointer. Use name brand fresh batteries and you'll be okay. The single beem is strong and is great for pointing out constellations. Put on the constellation cap, and it's an instant party disco light! If you're looking for a good laser pointer for astronomy, this is perfect. If your looking for a fun laser on cloudy nights, the constellation cap gives you that too. By the way, the dog will love it too!

Great Product at a Great Price,

This review is from: QQ-Tech® 5 mW 532 nm Green 2in1 Laser Pointer with Constellation Cap Mini Stage Light (Electronics)
I was hesitant to buy this product because of the remarkably low price, but now that I've got it, I'm glad that I did. The package shipped within a day of me ordering it, and it arrived a day earlier than the estimated shipping date. I remember reading in the review that this didn't come with batteries, but for some reason mine did. I suggest purchasing some rechargeable AAA batteries, because I play with this way too much to have to keep buying batteries for it. The build quality was sturdy, and it feels heavy and solid one your hands. The outside has a nice rubberized finish on it, so it doesn't get slippery in your palms. The spot is well focused, and very bright, the beam is clearly visible at night, and with the constellation cap, one can create awesome kaleidoscopic patterns on walls. Overall this was a great product, and I had a fantastic experience with the merchant. A+

Sadly this item did not work as described. Looked like it was a decent quality laser. However the beam was no where near as described. Right out of the box it produced the dots as in the picture. But it lasted for about 60secs before it faded really quickly. I tried the beam and it produced a small faint dot. Unscrewing it and screwing it back again produced a slightly brighter dot but then it faded again. Never did it produce a beam that could be used for pointing anything in the sky. Very disappointing as it looked like a decent quality laser and at a great price. Sorry everyone, it appears as this one is a roll the dice and maybe you will get a good one and maybe you will not. Looks like I ended up on the wrong side.EDIT: Although the first laser was not the greatest one has to commend the seller. They contacted me and sent me a new one, which works fine. I very much appreciate the willingness of a seller to replace a product without any hassle to the customer. It is a huge testimony to the seller. I will definitely buy again. Thank you QQ.

Powerful, though cap is misleading,

Very powerful, beam is visible at night, dot is visible at least a hundred yards away in daylight outside. Sometimes it diminishes in power, but removing the batteries it came with and replacing it again (with the same batteries) seems to let it cool down or something. It's not exactly a constellation cap, more of a diffraction grating that fits onto the end and creates kind of a kaleidoscope effect that changes with turned, but still very cool. Very satisfied, now I'm hungry for more powerful lasers

Poor laser for astronomy/stargazing,
This review is from: QQ-Tech® 5 mW 532 nm Green 2in1 Laser Pointer with Constellation Cap Mini Stage Light (Electronics)
I purchased this laser pointer for use in stargazing. Before purchasing this laser pointer, I knew very little about pointers except that some people will pay (what seemed to me at the time) ridiculous amounts of money for them. A laser pointer can be extremely useful for pointing out constellations to people. If you've ever felt the frustration of being in a dark sky among thousands of stars, and trying to point out a single star to someone, who may or may not know what you're pointing at, you will likely appreciate how incredibly precise and efficient a pointer can be. The beam on a laser pointer is so narrow and precise that you can easily show someone individual stars as if you are drawing a line to them with your finger. I was not really sure how the beam would work and couldn't imagine it being long enough to go into the sky, but the beam on a laser pointer seemingly extends to infinity and makes stargazing in groups much easier. A green laser is more useful for astronomy because green lasers are easy to see at night, and also you can see the actual beam of light, which allows you to follow the path to the star, rather than a red laser, which will only show a dot at the end and not the actual beam. Green lasers can range from 1mW to 300mW, but for astronomy purposes, 3-5mW is plenty sufficient. Additionally, in most jurisdictions in the United States, power is restricted to 5mW for anything classified as a "pointer." You can also use a green laser pointer to replace the viewfinder on your telescope by mounting it to the tube. There are hundreds of green lasers marketed toward stargazers, ranging in price from $3 to $500. More expensive laser pointers are generally going to contain higher powered lasers and better quality casings/housing. They will also have different options for turning on/off the pointer, and the ability to keep the laser on. Cheaper models like this one, almost always have a push button that you have to hold down to keep the laser on. This is a very generic 5mW (milliwatt) green laser pointer. If you search for other green pointers on Amazon in this price range, you will see that they all look exactly the same. That is because they are all manufactured by the same company. Some will have a "constellation cap" which is just a cap pre-cut with a constellation pattern. Mostly unnecessary for anything practical. I was really against the idea of paying the very high prices I saw for other laser pointers, and even with a lot of the bad reviews for this product, I decided to chance it and purchased two (if one died I figured it was still a decent deal if the other worked). Unfortunately, both laser pointers I received had problems within ten minutes of use. The problem is that these are very cheaply-made products. No batteries come with the laser pointer and it is wrapped in bubble tape. The housing does have some weight to it and the matte finish feels good in my hand. I didn't really have any problem there. However the actual laser component only works about 15% of the time. If you like to stargaze in freezing temperatures you may be in luck, because my laser usually only comes on after shaking the pen several times. Even more disappointing, the laser almost never comes on when pointing the pen up to the sky. When it does work, the beam is very sharp and precise, but the problem is that the components making up the laser are so poor that that is a gamble. Ultimately, I had to send both of mine back and spend $50 on a more reliable model from another company. If you are like me and don't have as much of a need for a laser to justify the higher price, you may want to give this or any of the other dozen laser pointers exactly like it a try, but don't be surprised if it fails on you soon after you receive it.

WIN,
This review is from: QQ-Tech® 5 mW 532 nm Green 2in1 Laser Pointer with Constellation Cap Mini Stage Light (Electronics)
I would have rated 5 had the laser been shipped with instructions. a fine laser for the price. Very bright and the polarizing filter is cool, can be removed for a solid beam. I recommend high end batteries(positive end facing the rear of the laser)due to the draw and it does require a warm housing temp to hold max but its nothing that a minute in your hand cant fix. I put mine in my pocket for a few minutes before use and its fine. holds a tight beam at range. $15 more or less to my door, cant beat that.

I purchased this for my 94 yr old mother so she could exercise her cats inside. Had it shipped directly to her in another city. It never worked from the beginning and she couldn't troubleshoot it. When I got my hands on it, I had the same experience as a few other reviewers. Light was barely visible and was intermittent...like the switch wasn't making a connection. Basically, a piece of junk. Since return option is expired, we'll look elsewhere.

Was actually just shopping for a simple laser pointer to play with the cats (which it works great for) and spotted this which fit the criteria and more for a low price. The constellation feature is definitely very cool and almost mesmerizing. The lens for that is easy to remove if you want to just use it as a laser pointer. Using 2xAAA is also a huge plus over button cells. However, it doesn't have the best construction or design for long term usage. There's either a bad contact with the button or the two halves of the casing where the battery sits. This causes the pointer to occasionally be very dim but a few twists of the two halves usually resolves it. Can't complain much for the price though, the cats still love it. |
