The green laser doesn't work well with 1.2V per cell from NiMH rechargables (or semi-depleted alkalines). With 1.5V per cell from fresh alkaline batteries, it's consistently and properly bright. At 1.2V per cell, it's sometimes bright, but often dim, and weirdly variable from click to click.

The purple and red do just fine on 1.2V per cell, so you can move partially-depleted cells from green to red/purple as they run down, or use NiMH in the red and purple (eneloop NiMH AAA are good).

These are powerful enough that it's worth reading the class III laser info on wikipedia. Any more powerful and you'd apparently need laser goggles. Don't assume they'll be good presentation pointers unless your screen is a diffuse reflector and your venue is fairly large (or maybe a filter cap from another pointer would fit). Avoid playing with cats with these - I think they could actually damage the cat's eyes, or at least make the cat suddenly very afraid for a disturbingly long time (based on seeing an incident with a lower-powered laser hitting a cat in the eye).

The purple one can charge glow-in-the-dark stuff very quickly, and the re-emitted light while it's charging is in the same league as the green.

The red laser is bright, but not as easy to see in the air as the green. It's best trick is it makes you feel good about having three choices.

UPDATE: I also got the separate green laser and separate purple laser also from qq-tech, with the diffraction tips. As far as I can tell, the lasers in this 3-combo aren't compatible with the diffraction tips (well, you could tape them on, but no threads at the front to screw them on). My two green lasers are still working.

Christmas gift for my boyfriend. Very, very bright. Product is exactly how mentioned on sellers page. Haha these are a lot better than the crappy lasers I had when I was a kid !

product was great it works just like they promised i love them. the red is bright the green is bright the blue/purple is bright but its got a star tip not just a dot.

These lasers are among the best I have used. They're nothing like those cheap flea market button cell lasers. Oh, don't shine them in anyone's eyes, especially the blue one. I felt heat coming off that one. The green one is the brightest of the 3 and great for pointing at stars on a clear night. Instead of using your finger (which is not very accurate) the green one can point accurately at a star so people around you can see what you're looking at. The blue one is more of a black-light laser. It shines very brightly when hitting white material. I measured the core temperature of the blue one, which was around 114 degrees Fahrenheit inside the diode. The red laser is much brighter than even the 20 dollar ones at OfficeMax. All these lasers don't suffer from the dreaded die-out effect. I get a constant steady power stream from start to finish. Although the product says it doesn't come with AAA batteries, It does, just two however. These batteries are off-brand, they died out quickly, but for batteries that I wasn't supposed to get, they were pretty good. Build quality is superb, The body is a black soft touch paint. and everything else is a nice strong metal. Overall a very nice product and great deal.

Great lasers at a great price. Some other places charge more than this for just one laser. All are bright. Never seen a blue/violet laser before, It's not as blue as what is shown in the picture though, more violet.

I did a couple hours of research before deciding on this set. It definitely paid off!

The 3 all work great. Obviously, green is the brightest, then the red (which is still very bright) and blue is a bit dim compared to the other 2, but that's just how that color works. The blue lasers of the same mW will always be dimmer based on wavelength. People shouldn't lower their ratings because they don't know their facts.

The green one every now and then does go slightly dimmer after a split second, but there are a couple remedies others have posted that actually do work. If you hold the button down for 2-3 seconds, it gets brighter again. Also, if you squeeze it in your hands to warm it up or set it on something with warm air for a tiny bit, it will improve/fix the problem. In my opinion, this is not enough of an issue to give it 4 stars.

I have already recommended these to several people.

As far as shipping goes, (I ordered from QQ-Tech) Long story short, they made an error, and in the end they apologized and even offered to send me a free red laser! I don't want to say the details of what actually happened as I don't want people saying the same happened just to take advantage of them.

Anyway, I would definitely recommend both the lasers and QQ-Tech again!

With this laser pack, 1 Green, 1 Red, and 1 Purple is awesome. The red is perfect 5 stars. Purple is the dot is reallt big but only goes like 100 feet 4 stars It also has an amazing color to. And for green, It is broke when i got it so thats why i gave it 4 stars

I bought these things 3 days ago, got them yesterday, which is Pro #1. They shipped via UPS, and as soon as I got them I ripped them open like a giddy schoolgirl. After testing them (good thing I bought AAAs too), I have the following information about them:
The red one will entice even the laziest cat into chasing its tail to the point of panting (first hand experience)
The Blue/Violet one is not as dim as you'd expect, given where it falls in the visible spectrum. still haven't looked into whether it can charge glow-in-the-dark material yet, but I can say that the dot changes color when it is shown on certain shades of white and green, oddly.
The green one is the best of the bunch, with a beam that is clearly visible in the night sky and from 2 miles away (I have a corn field back yard and tested this).
All in all, these lasers are fantastic. They're durable, bright, and great for any application from cat toy to amateur astronomy. I'd highly recommend this pack to anyone.

I got these a day before the actual earliest day I was supposed to get them and I was very excited to try them out. I had no problems with the violet laser or the red laser, but with the green one I was glad I had super glue on hand to glue the detachable part where the batteries go back in. This may sound confusing but let me try and explain better. The laser unscrews so you can but the batteries in. I unscrewed it put the battery in but when I attempted to screw it back in the part that it screws into detached from the other part of the laser. So I added some super glue and pounded the piece back in and now it's almost as good as new. The button and the clip of the laser don't line up anymore, and it's a bit harder to screw in but I don't really care! Just glad they work now!
