5.0 out of 5 stars Back to Brubeck
Excellent transcriptions of classic Brubeck Quartet tunes arranged for string quartet. These arrangements make clear what a chamber ensemble the Brubeck Quartet was. I like their version of "Bluette" better than the original!

2.0 out of 5 stars DREARY ......
I'm a long-time Brubeck fan, but only Brubeck can play Brubeck. It's a well-meaning tribute, but dreary in execution. I played the original "Take Five" several times to purge my system.

I had heard a piece of this recording some time back and thought that this CD would be consistent through out. Good recording, but seemed to lack energy and drive.

Terrific blend of classical and jazz, with more--Greensleeves, for instance. Heard this group on NPR and ordered CD right away. Enjoy the mix of lively jazz and soothing string quartet.
