This product provides a very secure buckle for the helmet strap. I would guess that it is probably stronger than the strap itself. You can work it with gloves on, so it saves you a lot of nuisance time.

I was a bit skeptical, but when I received the buckles, I was impressed with how solid they feel. They're super easy to use, and I can even buckle and unbuckle with my riding gloves on. It's definitely a good investment. And when it clicks closed...it FEELS totally locked in.

It is what they say it is and if it would work for me or my girlfriend, I'd love it. I have two Shoei helmets, one on-road and one off-road. Both have a plastic clip at the end of the strap to keep it from flapping around a speeds and whipping you, many helmets have something like this. Problem is the Shoei strap will not fit through the "arrow" part of the buckle. So, I tried it on my girlfriends helmet and it fits the helmet, but since she is so small it adds to much length to the strap and it won't tighten enough to fit her. I guess I'll give to someone in the family or a friend. :(

Excellant product, may need a little practice.,

I have purchased and used four of these. One for each helmet that I have (pudd'n bowl, 3/4, full face street, and dirt). It appears to be well made, and of quality materials. It does take a little practice to consistantly fasten the clip blind. But once I got that down, I would not have a helmet without one. I have even transplanted one from an older helmet to another, getting it off took some thought but it was not very difficult. I am not sure that i would trust one of the all plastic quick disconnects, but this one with its metal latch seems secure enough.

Search for the Power Madd Clip,
By Andrew (DFW, TEXAS) - See all my reviews
This review is from: NEW ECHO QUICK-RELEASE SAFETY MOTORCYCLE HELMET CHIN STRAP BUCKLE, BLACK(metal to metal design) (Misc.)
I recently replaced an Echo quick release clip for the PowerMadd speed clip. I got tired of the difficulties in getting the clip fastened and unfastened. I agree with several of the reviews that the areas requiring being press in are difficult for guys with larger fingers. I used this clip for around 5 years, and it did hold up well. It really only caused my helmet to get stuck on my head once. It wasn't stuck long, but it was frustrating getting the clip to finally release. I don't know if some WD40 would have helped this clip, but there is a far better clip if you search for a PowerMadd speed clip. The PowerMadd model truly is a one handed release clip, it is also DOT approved, and it is priced less than the Echo release. I highly recommend purchasers to avoid this clip unless you are a patient person that can deal easily with a little frustration.

A Little Hard to Use If You Have Big Fingers,

I am still trying to get comfortable using this device. The clips are small and extremely flat, which is probably good from the standpoint of riding comfort, but it's a real challenge to be able to get Tab A into Slot B with your helmet on your head. You have to mash them together until something clicks, and you hope the right part went into the right hole. It's unfortunately possible to have one side of the tab click in, and the other to miss and not click, which is not a safe way to ride.
I did have a problem just the other day where I could not get the darn thing to unclick. I was not pleased about that, standing in the parking lot trying to get the thing to release. I squeezed and squeezed the slot part, and it just would not let go of the tab. (this is not as easy to use as those plastic buckles you sometimes find on backpacks and other luggage.) I finally had to loosen up the helmet strap and pull my helmet off with the thing still engaged. I am glad I did not have to cut the strap to get my helmet off. The only other flaw is that, when this is installed, there's no way any longer to secure the flapping end of the helmet strap. It has a little button snap to be fixed in place when this device is not being used, but with the buckle in place, it prevents that snap from being used. I'll probably continue to use this, but it will still take some getting used to to use with dexterity.

I really dont understand all the people leaving reviews that they have trouble using this product. It is super simple and can be done in gloves. As long as you put it on correctly the extra strap length will still button it the correct spot to keep it out of the way. I have one of these on every helmet I have(3) and have never had a problem. I also didnt understand why needing a mirror to put it on was a problem. When im wearing winter gloves I sometimes need a aid to see it. Maybe I am just lucky but my bike has two mirrors that work perfect to see the two ends and make the connection. As stated in some reviews you do need to make sure both sides click in. Again I dont see this as a problem. If you give it alittle tug you can feel if it is not fully engaged. Great product!

I recently seen this on another riders helmet and it caught my attention.
I've only owned helmets with the D-ring style lace through strap for many years so I decided to try something new. I did like the idea that I can fasten the helmet strap with gloves on, as I usually forget and have to take my gloves back off. It is much faster and did take a little practice at first, no big deal. The plus is that it can be removed with no damage to the original strap.

Helmet strap quick release,

It was ok, a little tough to snap in. You have to align it correctly. even then I noticed a few times it actually came loose. I readjusted the strap and madeit tighter on my chin. This seems to help. overall I would use the strap. It is safer
