2.0 out of 5 stars Woof woof. Who is that howling?
Paul Williams has put out a book, with a big emphasis on sources and footnotes and a scholarly appearance. Professionally put together it seems. He warns that Osama has dozens of nukes within the United States already and that the "American Hiroshima" is coming soon.

As a 911 resident, I started this book with considerable expectations and concern, but ended...

This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
Ignore R Hutchinson's 1 star review below. I haven't ran off a cliff yet and I recently finished the book. Based on his other 999 thousand reviews it appears he reads certain books and comments on others based on the basic summary Amazon gives. Who else would have the time he has spent on the amount of reviews he has placed to Amazon. It makes you wonder who he works for. His politics of Bush bad Democrat good completely relieves him of any validity. If you read the book you will realize how many mistakes were made from both sides of the aisle throughout the last 20 years to bring about and indirectly aide the monster Al Qaeda.

I first heard about this book on talk radio and the author didn't even want to talk about the book or mention it. The guy is a true Paul Revere trying to help spread the word that we are in trouble.

The media has once again pulled the wool over our eyes. The fact that some of the significant, well documented, and public facts in this book haven't made the headlines truly shows how inept our media has become. The media has always been the eyes and ears of the people and what this book has really shown me indirectly is how shallow a source of information they have become. What this book gives you is documented facts compiled about the life of Osama and the rest of his cronies through many documented sources. The bibliography of his work is enough to impress any English major.

To give you an idea of what's in between the two covers you just have to imagine a biography of Osama in the making. It tells you who he is, and what he had been doing since early childhood. It tells you his influences and the major plot of how he became who he is today. It also uncovers a little know fact that Sunni and Shiite Muslim terrorist have united on one front in order to destroy the "Great Satan". The most important point that Paul shows us through his massive conglomeration of information is that there is no doubt that Al Qaeda possesses nuclear weapons and that they are very likely to have made it into the country recently. Even Mr. R Hutchison doesn't discount that, even though his solution is to fight a problem of 10 years ago, preventing the weapons from falling into the wrong hands.

The reason I say every American should read it is not only for the shock factor of what we haven't been told but for the pure history that has not been revealed to us. At the end I felt like I had brushed up on an important chapter of recent world history, something that the majority of us have missed since we don't attend history classes in school any longer. If you want to know more about the biggest challenge our country and civilization faces in the next 20 years then read this book. It is of such importance as not to be missed. In my opinion it will be the difference between life and death to many who will choose to have plans in place or not in the event something does happen. You only have to look as far back as Katrina to appreciate this fact.

Bottom Line:
If you are a person that carries insurance you are a person that should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doomsday Dynamite, August 22, 2005
This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
Even better than OSAMA'S REVENGE, THE AL QAEDA CONNECTION deals with the incredible situation at the border, the spread of Al Qaeda throughout South America, the ties between bin Laden and A. Q. Khan, the sleeper cells within the media and (even) the FBI, and the very real threat of the simultaneous nuclear attack of seven American cities. Don't read it if your faint of heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read, September 13, 2005
This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
Horrifying if true; great fiction if all is false. The book is well-paced and well-sourced. Regardless of the review by an apparently holier-than-thou narcissist, the book is a job well done. The 'critic' worried about Mr. Williams' PhD should spend more time taking issue with Mr. Williams' sources--the substance of the book--rather than attacking Mr. Williams personally. As someone who has participated in the War on Terror both on the front lines and in support in the Marine Corps, I know personally a lot of what Mr. Williams writes about is genuinely the case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Al Qaeda is planning nuclear megaterrorism on the U.S: Read & take seriously!, February 27, 2006
This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
In his book, The Al Qaeda Connection, professor, journalist and former FBI consultant Paul L. Williams, Ph.D. makes a convincing, well-documented case that Osama bin Laden (OBL), Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations are planning a Nuclear 9-11 in the near future. As an Al Qaeda statement reads, "We have the right to kill 4 million Americans-2 million of them children-...and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands. Furthermore, it is our right to fight them with chemical and biological weapons, so as to afflict them with the fatal maladies that have afflicted the Muslims because of the [Americans'] chemical and biological weapons." This attack is planned to occur simultaneously in various cities including Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Miami, and Las Vegas. This attack isn't just "wishful thinking" on the part of the terrorists. They actually have fully assembled nuclear weapons, the knowledge of how to use them, and an estimated thousands of sleeper agents in place in the U.S.

After reading this book, I'm thoroughly convinced this is a very likely scenario. In fact, I would be surprised if it *doesn't* happen. Billionaire investor Warren Buffet, who estimates odds of cataclysmic events for major insurance companies, is quoted declaring "an imminent nuclear nightmare within the United States is a 'virtual certainty.'" To say this book is frightening is an understatement. But it is my hope that everyone will read it and take it seriously, particularly those with the power to do something about this threat including those in law enforcement, intelligence, and port and airport security.

Here are some of the points Williams explores:

* Al Qaeda is hell-bent on inflicting nuclear terrorism on the U.S. This information comes from their leadership, as well as underlings who end up confessing in prison.

* As the old Soviet Union fell apart, some soldiers and black marketeers basically had a rummage sale of nuclear materials, suitcase nukes and other nuclear weapons. The Russians claim OBL has 12 to 15 fully assembled nuclear weapons, and the Saudis say 40 to 70.

* "Several nuclear weapons, including suitcase bombs, mines, rucksacks, and crude tactical nuclear warheads, have been forward-deployed to the United States."

* To make matters worse, a nuclear scientist and Al Qaeda supporter named Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has become the Johnny Appleseed of nuclear proliferation, providing Pakistan with atomic weapons, and going on to sell his knowledge to North Korea and Iran. Any of these countries could transfer nuclear weapons to terrorists.

* Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims, historically enemies, are setting aside their differences to work together to terrorize the United States and its allies.

* "Muslim terrorist organizations throughout the world, including Hezbollah, have been aiding al Qaeda in this massive undertaking [of Nuclear 9-11].

* Al Qaeda is extremely well-funded. Funding comes from mosques, phony charities, wealthy Middle Eastern business moguls, and drug trafficking. OBL in fact is an international drug lord, responsible for billions of dollars in Heroin sales per year. They also have a hand in cocaine trafficking in South America.

* Al Qaeda has an alliance with the powerful organized crime gang, Mara Salvatrucha (a.k.a. MS-13). In addition to doing arms and drug trades, Al Qaeda pays MS-13 $30, 000 to $50,000 a head to smuggle sleeper agents across our Mexican border.

* Our borders are extremely porous. "To illustrate this point, members of the American Border Patrol crossed into Mexico, using a well-traveled route, and brought back a simulated weapon of mass destruction in a back-pack" which they delivered to the steps of the Tucson Federal Building. They successfully repeated this experiment several times and were never questioned by law enforcement.

*Al Qaeda doesn't just train terrorists and develop weapons of mass destruction all the way across the world in Afghanistan, but in South America as well.

* Al Qaeda operatives have successfully infiltrated into many aspects of American life including the news media, military, and the FBI. Williams details several specific examples. The FBI agent, who refused to tape fellow Muslims was not fired but instead promoted, and then destroyed documents having to do with September 11th, and faked a burglary for insurance money. The FBI fired him, but then reversed themselves and gave him his job back.

* "Thousands of sleeper agents are estimated to be in place throughout the United States." There are agents in every area of the U.S.

Scary scary stuff, authoritatively written and documented. If you would benefit from knowledge of these potentially impeding attacks to protect your family or the rest of us, I hope you'll read this book and take it very seriously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brace Yourself - But Read This Book...., October 5, 2005
By
W. Thomas Causby (Columbia, SC United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
The difference between the threat of all-out nuclear war with the former Soviet Union and al Qaeda using a nuclear weapon on the U.S. is that the Soviet Union acted rationally. When the Soviet Union was threatened with the same timely and complete destruction that they could wreak upon the U.S. should they be foolish enough to attack us with nuclear weapons, they acted rationally and held back. What threat can be made against al Qaeda to convince them not to use nuclear weapons against the U.S. if they, in fact, have them as Dr. Williams posits in his book? And that is the ultimate question which we must ask ourselves - does al Qaeda have nuclear weapons? For the question is not whether al Qaeda will use these horrible weapons as it was with the Soviet Union. This group surely will. Our one and only question is whether they have them.

After reading Dr. Williams' book, I am unable to answer with certainty this most important question of whether al Qaeda has nuclear weapons. However, Dr. Williams makes a cogent argument that al Queda does have nuclear weapons, that at least some of those weapons are in place in certain U.S. cities, that it is only a matter of time until they are simultaneously detonated in each of those cities, and he cites his sources. What is more, he argues that bin Laden has received religious justification and permission for his cause and that his cause is to kill four million Americans, two million of whom must be children, as a sort of Holy vengeance against the U.S. for having done, in bin Laden's eyes, the same thing to Islamic people through our wars and our embargoes.

I do not believe the money Dr. Williams will make from this book will off-set the scorn he has and will continue to receive from so many people for daring to write what is on the pages of his book. That strongly suggests to me that Dr. Williams did not write this book as mere hyperbole to make a buck. I believe Dr. Williams is convinced that the words he has penned and now shares with America are the truth as he has uncovered it. Our challenge is to read and investigate for ourselves and then to take appropriate action. Dr. Williams' book is an excellent place to begin this investigation. If he is right, the consequences of our ignorance will be devastating. Let us not be ignorant.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great scare yourself into a survivalist shop book, but a little one sided., March 11, 2006
This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
Paul Williams has written another one of those jingoistic books that I've come to know and love. In the 70's and 80's there were similar books about the russian army and how it had bio weapons and sleeper cells and blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Don't get me wrong he builds a great case. The problem with this sort of book is that it builds a hysterical type of case, which is good if you sell survival equipment, but is not all that useful when it comes to predicting the future.

So read it as a good ghost story, but I think this book is stuck in October 2001.

The fact is, Osama is very patient, and I have no doubt that if and when he gets the chance he will strike. This type of hysterical book ignores so much of the political landscape throughout the world it's just not very useful.

Osama has lost a lot attention to Iraq. Iran is probably the major leader in the radical Islamic world today. Unlike AL Qaeda, they're not going to be very happy about a nuclear strike in the US, because they may be radical but they're not stupid. If they're seen a collobarating with Al Qaeda after an incident like that, we might spare a few of the 10,000 other nukes we have to warm up their cities.

This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
There is no sensationalism in this powerful and focused account. In a quiet and factual tone, Paul Williams draws together threads and connections obscure to most of us (what do we know about the Albanian Mafia? or the Egyptian-born sleeper agent within the Green Berets?). A terrifying sense of inevitability emerges. Never before could a ragtag collection of partners in high-tech crime threaten to bring down an entire nation-state, let alone the most powerful in the world. Read it and wonder: will it happen tomorrow?

5.0 out of 5 stars So scary, it's unreal, February 14, 2006
This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
According to Williams and his reading of his sources Al Qaeda already has the bomb, many times over. Bin Laden purchased the nukes from Chechen rebels who stole/bought them from disgruntled former Soviet scientists. Bin Laden also purchased some of the scientists and technicians themselves to keep the bombs in working order. Furthermore, bin Laden bought fissionable material on the black market and has the ability to turn that material into his own homemade bombs. He hired some nuclear scientists to help out. He got the money to pay for this from running the heroin trade out of Afghanistan.

The question immediate arises, why hasn't he used the nukes yet? The answer, according to Williams, is that bin Laden is a very, very careful man with enormous patience who, having spent all that dough, is not about to blow his opportunity to kill four million Americans through doing anything hasty like getting the bombs stopped at the border, or having them inoperative when he pulls the trigger. The grand plan is to get the nukes into the US and plant them at say seven different locations, including probably New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Las Vegas, Boston, Los Angeles, etc., make his usual pious announcement that it is time for the US to exit all Muslim lands and accept the will of Allah, etc. And when the US does not, he pulls the trigger, morally secure in the knowledge that he warned us.

But there is more. Williams claims that during the Cold War the former Soviet Union planted suitcase-sized nuclear bombs in many places throughout the United States, and those bombs are still there. Possibly bin Laden has purchased knowledge of their location and how to work them from former Soviet scientists and military operatives.

Williams wrings his hands and wants to know, since this is all public knowledge (he cites the sources on page after page), why the mass media hasn't informed the American public about the impending apocalypse.

I don't believe the sky is falling. I seldom subscribe to conspiracy theories, but I want to be candid here. I've been reading on his subject for a few years now, and like Williams I can see that the information and the cold logic is out there. You just have to go after it since the major media don't feel it's in the best interest of their bottom line to make a big deal of something so horrific as a possible nuclear attack on the United States--especially considering that nobody, but nobody knows how to do anything about it.

Certainly not the Bush administration, which is decidedly NOT addressing the subject in public. They cannot for fear of causing a panic. Think what would happen to the stock market if the Bush administration admitted that an unpreventable nuclear attack on US was likely and imminent.

Personally I used to live in the Los Angeles area. I moved not long ago. The Long Beach-Los Angeles harbor is the biggest port of entry for cargo containers in the United States. Of the millions that come into the port every year only about three percent are inspected. I didn't like the odds.

I would also like to point out first the obvious that the Bush administration has not gotten bin Laden and that we have no deterrent against him. We could blow up Pakistan (where he is presumably hiding) but we might never know if we got him or not. Furthermore, he doesn't care. The thrill of killing four million Americans (Al Qaeda's stated goal "justified" by how many Muslims America has supposedly killed) clearly would outweigh his fear of death.

Second, note that the people who mailed the anthrax letters a month after the World Trade Towers went down have never been apprehended or even identified. But if you read the media closely, it is clear that the most likely suspect is not a disgruntled or deranged government employee but instead the very same Al Qaeda that conducted the September 11th massacre. Williams notes that Al Qaeda has anthrax and other biochemical agents.

I mention this because the reason that the Bush administration and the mass media no longer mention the anthrax mailings is the same reason they don't talk about the missing Soviet nukes and the likelihood of where they are, namely because to speak truthfully about these things is to spread fear and panic among the general public and to admit to an inability to do anything about it. This is the reason we are facing these horrendous threats in silence

Amazing, you say? It is. And it is as crazy or even crazier than the Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) that prevailed during the Cold War, and, by the way, still prevails to some extent today.

Bottom line is that some humans will murder one another in an attempt to get what they want. They will wantonly kill one another in the name of God or because of hate or prejudice. And with nuclear weapons now over-the-counter items, they will do so in massive numbers, and again, guess what? Until we change human nature or find a way to actually prevent (make physically impossible) its use, the mushroom cloud will once again envelope a human city, and probably in the near future. And that city will be an American city.

Count on it, is what Williams is telling us. He cites sources throughout and fills his narrative with the most compellingly veracious-sounding detail that I am fairly crying out for somebody to demonstrate, item by item, that he is in error. I wish I could. The truth is, I think he's right.

Read this book at your peril. It might give you nightmares. It might bring on clinical depression. It might make you as cynical as satan. Or don't read it. Sometimes, ignorance (if you can stand it) really is bliss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Should Be Mandatory Reading, December 6, 2005

(VINE VOICE)
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse (Hardcover)
Excluding the one star anonymous report, the reviewers have it right. This is a blockbuster book if only 10% of it is correct and my sense is that the actual percentage is far higher.

Although outstanding in its detail, the first half of the book opens few new strategic avenues other than the very important discussions regarding nuclear capabilities. It is the second half of the book which causes the real nightmare, the expansion of terrorism into the western hemisphere, often in cooperation with the leftist governments.

From the aged Castro to Chavez and the Shining Path gang there are a lot of people down there who are rooting for the bad guys. Add to that the traditional Latin acceptance of bribery and favors and you have all of the nutrients needed for a major second front for the Islamic terrorists.

Although the terrain in Afghanistan creates many obstacles for our military and para-military operations, operating in Central and South America far more resembles the obstacles we faced in Vietnam where our advantages in mobility and technology were often blunted by terrain, ground cover and weather.

While the 9-11 commission squabbles over the double or triple checking of airline passenger manifests, tens of thousands of illegal entrants are simply walking across our borders every week. The author documents that not all of these are poor Mexicans, just looking for a chance to earn a few dollars as "Undocumented Workers." Add to this the unending flow of drugs in multi ton shipments that safely cross the border and you have the ingredients of a decapitating and economically devastating strike against our country from within.

The connection between the terrorists and drug lords (reflecting the same arrangements that now exist in Asia) and the gangs that control cross border traffic and the border towns you have the highway bringing terror, beyond our ability to comprehend, into the heartland.

In the late 80's and early 90's I spend a great deal of time in the Rampart Division area of Los Angeles. The author's description of what happened as the MS13 gangs moved into the area along with tens of thousands of illegals from El Salvador sugar coats the conditions. In addition to the wars for control of the drug trade, many of the immigrants were from the far left who fled El Salvador when the war went bad for them. What few realize is that much of the Rodney King rioting in LA was not outraged blacks but rather by these same black hating leftists who had taken over legal and illegal commerce in a significant part of LA. In one small episode a gunfight erupted between gang members and police undercover agents who were so will dressed that they were mistaken for competing gang members. In the middle of the day more than 40 shots were exchanged across a busy Wilshire Boulevard intersection, in front of our building.

So much for the digression. The book should precipitate an intelligent discussion of the threats of the unthinkable and what common sense things we might do to prevent a disaster of this magnitude. In addition to prevention, if there was a lesson of Katrina it is that we need to focus on a completely new model of managing disasters and disaster recovery that is not dependent on the bureaucratic top down, highly centralized model. Suppose there was no Washington DC after an attack?

Back to the topic. Read the book, read other books, make your own decision. Regardless of where you are on the political spectrum this book deserves attention.

It may indeed take another attack on our beloved country(hopefully not), but one day soon perhaps the media will cease the practice of using the sdjective "radical" to describe Islam. This book gives more insight into why the destruction of America, and all Christian nations, is the primary Islamic objective. Read it and wake up, hopefully not to weep.
