Not worth the bidding war,

This review is from: Da Qiang Ji: Power Striking (Paperback)
I paid more for this book than I'd like to admit. I am writing this review so that you don't get caught in a book "bidding war."The book is 163 pages, and is chock full of illustrations. It shows a various number of ways that one human can hit another, and how to generate some addition power by using some simple concepts. I would classify the book as mostly an EXTERNAL martial arts approach, but is also alludes to some internal techniques (centrifugal motion, et al). The breakdown is simple early rank Shaolin or Karate exercises- punches and kicks. That's it. There is some text and drawings that show how to generate external power by adding some dynamic to the body, but any decent school/dojo/gwoon/etc. will teach these things as basics. Since Master Long does not name his style, and the drawings are so stiff, what is presented looks like Americanized Sport Tae Kwon Do. From the name, and the authors name, I was expecting something more 'internal.' I wish there was a "Look Inside" feature before I purchased, otherwise I would not have given this book a second look. I gave it two stars, out of respect for the author and to respect all martial arts. |
