4.0 out of 5 stars Classic game, March 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Qix (Game Cartridge)
This exciting game will frustrate and challenge you until you until you play it enough to figure out your strategy a bit. Hint: Build small squares out towards the center, then spread to each side and wrap around to enclose the force field. Progressively harder levels will make this a very addicting game. It gets pretty hairy after level 8, but will keep you coming back. If you liked Pac Man, you'll probably like this even better. Shows colors on Color Game Boy, and looks OK on original (B&W) too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great classic puzzle game for Game Boy, January 10, 2004
This review is from: Qix (Game Cartridge)
When I first got this game I was a bit disappointed. It looked like a boring line game. Actually it's a fun and addictive game of trying to capture this creature called Qix into a boxed area. It's a very smart idea and I really liked this game a lot. The graphics are very simple, but the game is a classic. You try to make lines and box in the fast moving Qix.

Here's a good strategy to use with this game. Start out by making a line across the whole screen, like a tower. Then press B and the directional pad to connect the whole area and make it dark (A is for fast lines and B is for slow lines).

The game gets more hard as you go on. It's cool how after you win a certain number of levels there's a cool little animation with fireworks. After you win there's a nice Nintendo show, which differs as you get more points.

4.0 out of 5 stars Addictive Handheld Game, August 6, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Qix (Game Cartridge)
The first thing you are going to notice about this review is that it is not in my standard video game review format. That is due to the fact that this game is so simple I couldn't write that much about it. This however will explain every detail about the game.

The playing field is a square. You are a diamond and can move along the lines of the square. In the middle in a bunch of lines that move like a snake and will attack you. There are also spiders along the outside that will attack you. A guage at the bottom of the screen will signal when another spider is about to appear.

The object of the game is to draw lines across the square to gain parts of the square. Drawing a fast line (A Button) from one point to another will gain you a percentage of the square. Drawing a slow line (B Button) works the same way except you gain additional percentage. You must gain 75% of the square to win the level. You only have three lives to work with.

Dodging a snake-type lines and spiders becomes very difficult in later levels. This game is extremely addictive, and fun for a quick play. The game keeps track of your high scores, which make the game even more addictive. This title is in color if you use a Game Boy Color or better version.
