I was intrigued by the dual usb ports, and specifically the dual power supply high-power usb ports. Many other similar devices advertise as 2.1 amps, but that's divided between two ports...won't charge an iphone AND an ipad, etc. This one specifically claims to have 2x 2.1 amps.

Anyways, it doesn't work. The unit couldn't power a single iphone 3, ipad, blackberry 9930, nor playbook. Much less two. It does work to some small form; I'm able to power my verizon mifi, and also able to charge some GMRS radio handsets.

The hunt continues for a device that will charge two high-power devices simultaneously.

I agree with Robert Rowald, My S3 lost charge while connected.
This charger is a iPhone charger and does not follow the
September 2007 the Open Mobile Terminal Platform,
the 17 February 2009 the GSM Association (GSMA) agreed standard charger for mobile phones,
the 22 April 2009 CTIA endorsed protocol, or
the Universal Charging Solution embraced by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) On 22 October 2009.

Wish I knew that before I wasted my time with it.
Waist of money and may overheat your phone.
You may get it to work with a non standard cable.

I bought this charger b/c of a link from a c|net post on using a tablet in a car (GPS, OBD, etc.). "Great", I think. "OBD on the phone, navigation on the tablet." Then I noticed that my phone wasn't charging very quickly, if at all, when plugged in. I did a contrast and compare this AM. 25 minute drive using Waze on the phone (GPS/data) while plugged in to one of the '2.1 amp' outlets on this unit: start = 87% charged/end 83% charged. Net loss. On the way home I swapped my original 1 amp charger in. Same use of Waze; start = 73% charged, stopped for gas 10 minutes later = 81% charged. I'm going to try to get a refund.

This is one of the few USB car chargers I've found that'll fully charge 2 2.1 amp devices (iPads and many other tablets). I have an GT-i9250 Galaxy Nexus, an SGH-i717 Galaxy Note, and an Asus Nexus 7. All three devices show "Charging (AC)" rather than "Charging (USB)" when connected to this charger, using a "Power Only" usb cable. I've had no overheating issues, draining battery issues, or problems connecting my devices.

***Update: March 17, 2013
It's still going strong. Nowadays, I'm no longer using the i9250, I've switched to a Nexus 4, with no problems. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has multiple mobile devices.

I have had this usb charger for a month now and while it works, if you are using it with an android device or any usb product, make sure you are using the correct usb cable to get full access to the full 2.1 amps advertised. Apple products will charge correctly out the gate with the standard sync cord but Android devices require you to use a usb charging cable to give full power.
This was confusing to me at first but long story short, I tried to use this charger with my normal sync cord on my Galaxy Nexus and it would only trickle charge via usb. Using a charging only cable (which provides no data access) allowed it to charge in AC mode as if it were plugged into a wall. Since it provides more power than needed to charge, batteries charge faster and it even charges while using the nav and mp3 player at the same time.

100% satisfied. While using a charge only cord means you can probably use a cheaper charger to get the same results, I feel like this model is more future proof for use w/ future devices that may need more power.

all in all this is a great charger. charges my razr maxx in no time. but i originally bought this for my nexus 7. unfortunately it does not work on it. not the chargers fault, but the tablet. its extremely picky with that will work on it. the 2.1 amp is a huge difference, its like being plugged into a wall!!!
