The only negative that I can think of is it is a little bulky, and for everyday use in the car I wonder if it will stress my iPhone connector. But for what this is, I'd say this is majoring in minors.
1/12/12 - Since I've owned this item I've had a couple of issues. One was a bit mysterious and had to do with a connector sticking and when I was able to release it the whole product wouldn't work, and the other was that the cable started to pull away from the USB housing exposing the wires.
No change to rating the item you say? Here's why, support from Qmadix is stellar! On both occasions I contacted them, the reps resolved the issue and sent me out a brand new unit immediately. All that was required of me was to return the defective unit, which I did via USPS 1st Class mail for a minimal cost. The first time I contacted them they walked me through a few trouble shooting steps (trying different devices and USB ports) before authorizing the replacement, and the 2nd time I just sent pictures of the issue and they gave me an RMA with no delay.Read more ›
Update: I thought I'd update this review because I saw a number of negative reviews pop up, and I'm 99% sure that's because people have been buying the cheap knock-off version of this product (the low priced option from "PUT Group" that is listed here as "Fulfilled by Amazon").
I have now purchased three of these QMadix cables. The first was from Amazon, and it is the real thing, and it is still going strong -- after a few hundred thousand miles of travel! The second was from "PUT Group", and it was an imitation item (not an authentic Qmadix), which was obvious the second I opened it, because the packaging is completely different (see picture that I uploaded) and the part itself feels cheap and crappy (and looks different from the real thing). After I received the fake, I immediately ordered a third from Amazon (not just "fulfilled by Amazon", but actually sold by Amazon), and voila, it is the real thing.
These cables are so handy that they are literally the only USB cables I carry now. Buy the real one, and you're unlikely to be disappointed. In the meantime, it's a shame that Qmadix is getting a bad name just because someone is capable of slapping the Qmadix name on a cheap piece of crap.
Works as advertised
Not too expensive
Connections very solid
i recommend this to anyone that has a lot of devices with different plugs.
Unfortunately, as soon as I received this one I knew it was a counterfeit. The label was only on one side of the retractable housing and didn't match the original. The iPhone connector was not imprinted with the same symbol that the previous cable was, and the quality of the cable was poorer overall.
Sadly, this is the second time I have purchased an item on Amazon that was counterfeit. If I didn't already own an identical cable, I may not have noticed, but, unfortunately, it was obvious when I laid both products side-by-side.
I am still limping along with it because I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it. I have often thought about writing a review to help other customers avoid purchasing this product and finally decided to sit down and do it. Buyer beware!
