Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Everything is just ducky when Auntie Lily brings Daisy Duck and her baby brother, Pip, to the feeding pond. "Now we can make as much noise as we like." Yet when a feathered crowd descends, and they attempt to reunite with Mama Duck, the duo's cries are drowned out in Quack, Daisy, QUACK! by Jane Simmons.

From School Library Journal

reSchool--In this latest adventure, the yellow duckling and her little brother go with their mother to Auntie Lily's where there are many rousing diversions. While the adults visit, the youngsters make a lot of noise chasing the bees, the birds, the mice, the fish, and even a balloon until they've used up all their entertainment. Auntie Lily then takes them to a crowded duck pond where the little ones can be as noisy as they want to be. Daisy and Pip race for the chunks of bread, but get lost in the crowd. Readers will sit on the edge of their seats when Daisy searches for her mother to no avail. Fortunately, she manages to call "Mamma" above the deafening din, and all is well. The bright, bold illustrations are amusing and as engaging as always. Daisy runs about eagerly with skinny neck stretched forward, big feet flapping. Another ducky delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars for Daisy!, February 10, 2005
This review is from: Quack, Daisy, QUACK! (Hardcover)
Two young ducks tend to scare away their playmates with their loud quacking. One day, they visit a noisy duck pond where their loud voices are finally put to good use.

The simple text and almost Impressionist illustrations combine to form a delightful Springtime story. Children will like the fact that loud voices are appreciated, and adults will like the loving relationships between the ducklings and their elders.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Son Loves Daisy, April 21, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Quack, Daisy, QUACK! (Hardcover)
We purchased about four different "Daisy" books to leave at my parents house for when we visit. This group of books is so fun and have good messages in them. My son is 3 and we've been reading them since he was born and he still likes them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for preschoolers, August 26, 2002
By
L. K. Roden "Busy Mama of 3" (Northern VA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Quack, Daisy, QUACK! (Hardcover)
One in a series of stories about Daisy the little duck, Quack, Daisy, Quack is a story of what happens when Daisy gets separated from her Mama during an outing at the pond. This is a softly painted picture book even younger preschoolers like to read along to. Readers get a sense of how scared Daisy feels when she realizes she cant find Mama, and will cheer Daisy on when she finally quacks loud enough to call Mamas attention over all the noise of the rest of the ducks in the pond. At the end of the story, we see Daisy and baby brother Pip back in the family garden taking a nap near Mama and Aunt Lily. Preschoolers will enjoy the many opportunities to shout and quack like noisy ducks, and will love quacking a loud Mama! during the story. I especially like how Daisy is able to solve the problem of losing Mama by herself and how we see how comforted she is when shes back home safe and sound. The quirky, goofy little duckling is very endearing and seems to epitomize every preschoolers desire to wander off from time to time.
