After playing Unreal Tournament I expected, a lot more but what to do. Personally Dreamcast is my favourite console. I also have a PS2 nad a PSP but my favourite one is DC. First it's too hard to aim to your enemy and contorls are a bit too hard. Graphics are amazing and the sounds are ok. Specially the atmosphere is amazing. WARNING: If you don't have a keyboard and a mouse, you might consider buying them before you purchase this game. It's really impossible to play well using the game controller. You'll get blown away so fast as you try to aim. Aside from the game control the game is amazing. The graphics are outstanding, especially on a VGA monitor. The game play is fast. There is virtually no lag time on the broadband even with four players. On the 56K connection, there is an occational lag, and I have yet to be booted out of the connection. Of course, playing on-line is the key to this game. Online game play is extremely addictive. There are plenty of levels to chose from--I think 30 or so. One player game is fun too. But the opponents are tough (maybe because I am a beginner). I'd say this is one of the must-purchase games for the Dreamcast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game, December 28, 2000
This review is from: Quake 3 Arena (Video Game)
Quake 3 has some of the best graphics i have seen on the dreamcast. Besides the graphics, the gameplay is good too. This game really shines in the multiplayer and internet sections. It is so much fun to play online against people, and frag the hell outta them! =) I only occasionaly recieve lag while playing online. It is also fun to play a split-screen game against your friened. Why not 5 stars? The single player game gets old, quick. Its just you in arena going against computer AI players. If only they made the gameplay like quake 2 it would deserve 5 stars. Still, overall its a great game. I only occasionaly recieve lag while playing online.

P.S If you see "TREND" on a seganet server, prepare to be fragged! =)

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is AWESOME!, August 12, 2000

I have never been a fan of Quake until I played it on the Sega Dreamcast. Since Sega was smart when they made the Dreamcast, they built in a modem, and that is what makes the game so awesome. This is one of the first games to use the Dreamcast's modem, but dozens more are on the way.

Personally, I can't wait for Phantasy Star Online, but this is a Quake 3 reveiw, and I will tell you, your money won't be waisted if you buy this game, it is truly awesome, and the lag is actually better than it is when I play this game on my PC! See you online.

First it's too hard to aim to your enemy and contorls are a bit too hard. Graphics are amazing and the sounds are ok. Specially the atmosphere is amazing. There are only a few of us Dreamcast users left and I think we should own every single game that we can find for it. Q3 is not a bad game. Unreal is much better but it is absolutelly better than the Rainbow Six series. And in multiplayer mod I had amazing fun with 3 friends of mine. So considering the price I can recommend you this game.

1.0 out of 5 stars How I wasted (the price), September 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Quake 3 Arena (Video Game)
I bought this game hoping it would be like Unreal Tournament. When I first played it I liked it, it was very fast-paced and violent. But then I discovered (the next day) that the game was a complete waste of time for the following reasons.
1.The controls ar difficult.
2.The game is very difficult, even on "easy"
3.Mindless deathmatching
4.The pathetic weapons (the BFG became something ugly)
5.Very lacking capture the falg games.
6.Small levels.
7.Poor music.
8.Bad attempt at combining the supernatural and technology.
9.Cannot customize characters
10.The final boss who can shoot you with a railgun from across the map while jumping...
If you plan on purchasing this title heed my warning, and ignore the little "HOT BUY" icon near the title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quake III RULES!!, December 15, 2000
This review is from: Quake 3 Arena (Video Game)
This is with out a doubt one of the best looking DC games out there.. The graphics are ultra killer, and there is no slow down to be found anywhere.. This is even better than PS2's Unreal Tournamnet. Yup yup, it sure is. Anyway, besides the graphics, the gameplay is the best found on a 1st person shooter, fast and intense action the way it's suppose to be, blood and guts will fly when you frag someone w/ your rocket launcher.. The weapons are very impressive looking, the best ones are the plasma gun, and the rocket launcher.. It's too bad that they took away the super shot gun that was in Q2.. Anyway, besides the weapons, this game is a game to behold, get online w/ it and meet fellow Q3 fanatics and join a bloody clan! This is as good as it gets, folks. If you don't have this game, BUY IT! It's the best 1st person shooter out there, but be on the look out for Half Life on the DC! Quake 3 Rules!

5.0 out of 5 stars 1337 Game, December 27, 2001

This game is godly. I must say, it takes advantage of the grafix and speed of how the dreamcast system is capable of. Also, this game blows away Unreal Tournament, I hate UT so bad. This surpasses it in all categories. You people that say you need a mouse and keyboard, you are so wrong. It takes real skill to use the control, there fore improving your skillz. I am a counter-strike player, so dropping down to a controller is much more entertaining. It can be a pain but it only took me a few hours to get good with the controls. If you are a shoot em up / action fan, this is a great game to add to your collection. The grafix are superb, along with everything else. If you dont have Internet connection on it, just have 1 or more friend(s) over and rock. I had my friend over for about a WEEK straight playing this, like 15 hours a day. But we had to take it back cause it was a rental. I am not a freak this game is so addictive. Also as someone said, the more the marrier. Which is so true. 2 Players VS 2 Computers is so fun, and adding more friends or computers make the game so much better. Also, the computers AI is quite good. On Easy you will probably get your butt kicked if your a first time, but you'll progress and jack up the AI for more action n fun. This game is godly compared to UT because the faster gameplay and the grafix are so much better. People dont like DC because it is a past system, it makes me mad considering this is 1 of the many games on DC that equals or surpasses similar titles on a PS2. At first when you rent or buy the game, you sit down and start it up. You go to options and look at the buttons and your probably thinking " what the hell?? " but after a few hours you get used to this game and you could be addicted to this like I am. Well overall I give this game a 9.7 / 10. The controls could be a little easier for n00bs, but if you have a extra few hours to learn the buttons before raping all, this is great. I highly reccomend this game to all gamers. I better stop before I go over the 1000 word limit.. Happy Fraggin' Everyone. Buy this game. Hope this helps you :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Get Unreal Tournament Instead, November 2, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Quake 3 Arena (Video Game)
This game is too damn hard! The graphics are awesome, but the gameplay with a controller is impossible! It is impossible to target opponents with the control pad. Thank God that Unreal Tournament has auto-targetting. I want to love this game, but I can't...I know I'm crying about it, but Unreal has smoother gameplay. Maybe I just suck, but this game is too hard without the mouse and keyboard option.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but PC is better, September 30, 2001

Well, quake 3 is a very heavy game graphics wise, and the dreamcast certainly can handle it. I don't know if people knew this, but Dreamcast has better graphics than PS2. PS2 has a 4MB Vram, and Dreamcast has an 8MB Vram, allowing Dreamcast to display twice as much speed and graphics at a time, which negates PS2's better processor speed, no joke. If you don't belive me, go play Crazy Taxi for PS2, and then for Dreamcast and tell me what you think. Anywho, Quake 3 is a really good game with fast moving graphics, good single player mode, and a halfway decent online service. Although, the controls are a little funky. The PC version has better graphics, and is worth getting if yer PC has an AGP graphics card and a processor speed minimum of 300 MHz's.

This is one of the best Dreamcast has to offer. With graphics that overshadow and closly match the ps2 version and gameplay to match you can not get much better than this. Although the game pad setup is good I would still suggest buying the keyboard and mouse.
