4.0 out of 5 stars Josh Ruffier, August 24, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Quake (Video Game)
This is the one. All of the other Quakes got all modern with dealing with space and getting all futuristic and whatnot. This one however dealt more on the lines of the underworld, demons, zombies, and other things like that. Sure it may not have the bext graphics or multyplayer but in my few is the best of the series. Play this one before you play the others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get Quaked, November 26, 2006

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Quake (Video Game)
Quake, when it first arrived in 1996, was a ground-breaking 1st-person shooter. Not because it brought anything more to the table than DOOM in terms of raw gameplay, but because it used a full 3D polygon based engine instead of a sprite-based one. It was also a very moody game, featuring very hellish-looking Gothic environments and a mix of relentless enemies.

The N64 version was a straight PC port, the only difference being it lost the online multiplayer options for a 2-person deathmatch. While it was criticzed during initial release for coming 2 years too late, a decade later its nice to have a version of Quake that runs flawlessly when windows XP has made the PC version glitchy or unplayable.

If you have an N64, you can relive Quake in all its brutal gothic glory. It's technically dated, but still loads of fun to play. And never try to put the pin back in.
