5.0 out of 5 stars Great for renters
This gel is good stuff for renters who don't want to affix items permanently but want to do some creative things - for example, our bathroom sink was missing the decorative caps on the top of the faucet handles - I used the Museum Gel to hold two vintage glass marbles there - whimsical & removable! Have used it for several other like items.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful for some things, not quite what I was expecting.
I was expecting this to be more solid, like putty. I think they make another product called museum putty which is probably what I should have gotten. This is a clear gel that is really a very slow moving liquid. You pinch out a little lump and put it on a surface, and over time it flattens itself out into a disc. It is good for sticking flat-bottomed items to completely...

Worked well at keeping a top heavy vase in its place, despite having two cats who enjoy tipping over breakables. I'd give it 5 stars, but there is a litte movement in the vase if you give it a firm push. But to be fair, the surface is a little grainy and pourous. I'd certainly buy again from Amazon given the price and convenience.

Really interesting how this product sticks my vases and valuable glasses down. I can't hardly see it. I know it said not for use on wood but I have a piano with a very thick finish and it worked just fine and came off completely. Overall, I am impressed that it sticks so well and I can't see it underneath.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff - One problem to keep in mind!, February 12, 2010
This review is from: Quakehold! 33111 Museum Gel, Clear (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have used this product for years. It's great. Keep in mind it does melt if the room gets hot. I have found when I need to clean the shelves and the gel is removed, if it gets on the rug, which small particles have, it melts and you cannot remove it. I have tried to get it out of the rug o but to no avail, it is permanently there. So, put a drop cloth down so none of the gel gets on the carpet during the removal process.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Glass Shelves and Smooth Surfaces Only, July 28, 2008

All you need is a pinch. Works well with glass shelves. Clear and invisible so you wont see it even if you look from the bottom. For what its intended purpose, it is 5 stars. Other than that, it is limited in uses.

You cannot use it to stick posters or practically anything on the wall as it drips. It is not as sticky as other products like "Quakehold", poster putties, etc. It will also not work on wooden surfaces. Anything that has pores and grains will not work.

This is a clear gel that is really a very slow moving liquid. You pinch out a little lump and put it on a surface, and over time it flattens itself out into a disc. It is good for sticking flat-bottomed items to completely horizontal surfaces, and it does seem to come off of surfaces cleanly. The product info does imply it might stain unfinished wood.

Product as advertised but the ad does not say that it is best used on glass shelves, not on wood. I needed it for the latter so I haven't used it.

Frankly, I am disappointed in this product. Before purchasing it and after reading the review that accompanied it on Amazon, I bought it for a specific use and after receiving it, the directions inside the box said it could possible stain certain surfaces, which means I can`t use it for the reason I bought it. The review on Amazon said it would not hurt any furniture surface, Which is it?
