You could put something like this together for much less than it costs but if you're short on time then these straps do the trick. I use them on all tall/heavy furniture that's at risk of toppling in an earthquake or if baby climbs on them. They come in enough colors that I can match them to to the furniture and they don't look too bad.

I only gave this product four stars for ease of installation. It will get five stars if the straps actually work during an earthquake, but hopefully I will never have to find that out. Yes you can buy your own straps and screws, but the part that attaches to your furniture here is velcro actually sewn in a very strong manner to the strap. It was easy to install, and the fact the velcro is sewn on and not just stuck on gives added security to the overall strength of the strap. Yeah they're maybe a little pricey, but they're quick and easy to install, and I'd rather buy these than deal with all my broken possessions if a big quake does hit my area. I used them on bookshelves, file cabinet, dressers, bedroom set w/ mirrored headboard.. Fast shipping from Grady's Hardware too. Pretty happy overall.

These match my dresser almost perfectly. Very easy to install and work well. My dad and I pulled on my dresser...it isn't going anywhere!

Yes, you could just purchase straps and screw them into the wall, but then you'd be missing out on a lot that these particular straps have to offer. First, they are actually safety tested to a particular weight - is it really worth saving a few bucks to take a chance that the straps you buy might shred in a strong quake or if a big kid (or two kids) climb on your piece of furniture? Second, the adhesive/velcro combination makes it so you don't have to ruin your lovely, expensive, heavy furniture in order to secure it. Third, everything is right there in the package, with instructions, ready to go. Convenience and safety in one.

I've used these straps for my armoires and other particularly heavy pieces of furniture and lighter duty straps (KidCo Straps and anti-tip brackets for) for midweight and lighter pieces.

Well, the kids haven't actually tested this product yet, (thankfully), so I can only go by how it *seems* it would work.

It feels sturdy and safe - I have much more piece of mind now than before, and they were relatively easy to install. If you can screw something into a piece of wood, you shouldn't have too much trouble with this. I feel like it would hold a very hefty piece of furniture in place.

These straps are great for securing tall items, like book cases or curio cabinets, to the walls that you may want to move from time to time. They are easy to install and the heavy duty Velcro type attachments make them easy to attach and reattach as needed. They are heavy duty and can be reusable on other pieces of furniture. The two straps in each kit will allow you to do two pieces of furniture.

This product has been holding a 100lb+ leaning mirror. No earthquakes yet, but it has held despite many bumps by the children.

Very solid strap. Worked the first time. I can't believe buying a dresser is so much hassle. So if you are unlucky enough to have bought a unstable dresser from Ikea, better get a strap like this.
