5.0 out of 5 stars Cats and glass
I have a collection of glass figurines. I also have a collection of felines. Without museum putty, I couldn't have both!

2.0 out of 5 stars OK Product - terrible packaging and misleading amount included
Quake Hold is simply a slightly tackier silly putty - very slightly to be precise. It handles exactly the same way meaning it is stringy and pliable, you need to spend quite some time breaking it up into small pieces to secure larger objects. The packaging is simply a paper sleeve with the product flattened out on wax paper. Once you start to pull this stuff apart for...

I ordered this to solve simple mundane but aggravating issues: like keeping candles straight in their holders, keep items from sliding off my lap desk such as a cup or laser keyboard, and the normal stuff like vases and other sit around items from getting knocked off.
It is very pliable, reusable, removable, and I have not had any surfaces damaged. For me, it was a good purchase and worth the money.

Great all-around tool for the house. I use it to secure speakers to stands, cable modem and router to the desk, posters to the wall, answering machine to counter, etc.

Have never found it to stain or leave residue. I did tear the paper of a poster when trying to remove it but the wall was fine.

Once you start to pull this stuff apart for usage, it is hard to get any extra product back into the package. Not a huge deal, but why they didn't include a simple container is beyond me. The real issue here for me was that the amount you get is a bit stingy - yes you can spread this stuff out, but notice how the description does not give you the actual amount included? That is because the other similarity to silly putty is that is about how much you get. As for its holding ability - things such as medium to large vases or bowls will still move if you do anything but bump them lightly. Only very light items will stay tightly secured and only then with copious amounts of product and fiddling. Also, it is re-usable but after a while hair and dust drastically drop its tackiness and if you drop it on a carpeted floor - forget about it. It gets the job done, but it definitely has room for improvement. Too bad they didn't go the whole distance in copying silly putty and just give you an egg to hold it in which would make storing it a whole lot easier. I think a good two sided tape pretty much beats this hands down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quakehold!~ Museum Putty, May 27, 2008

This is a great product. I bought it for the pictures in our office so they will stay straight on the wall. Once there it does not come off until you take it off. You don't even see it. People just think you are great at hanging pictures. And I like that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quake Hold is amazing!!!, August 31, 2008

I needed something to anchor a small antique vase to a stand, that wouldn't harm the vase. The people at Scott Laurent Gallery in Orlando suggested museum putty. I couldn't find any locally so I ordered Quake Hold from Amazon. It works great! Once applied (with no waiting period), objects hold tight, but can be removed with a clock-wise twist, and the putty comes right off of the surfaces. We have four active cats, and I trust this stuff enough to display two very large vases which I've anchored to end tables. They haven't budged -- the vases, not the cats. They're everywhere. A little goes a long way too. I ordered four packages and I just finished the first, having also used it to attach fabric to some art glass for display. It's cheap, clean, and does the job. What else could you want? SM

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed!, January 21, 2008

I'm using this putty to hold down the wooden tracks of my kids' Thomas train set, and it's worked wonderfully! I was so tired of the tracks getting knocked over or bumped out of place, the kids would come crying for me to fix it every few minutes. At the suggestion of a friend, I tried this putty and it's the perfect solution. We putty the tracks and pieces down, the kids can't move them, but an adult can pull the tracks up if needed (so much better than glue, we can change the configuration of the tracks as often as we want this way!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great to have on hand, December 29, 2006

This is just the ticket if you want to level your framed items once and forget them. Just a small dab on a bottom corner will do just fine (even in earthquake territory). It's particularly useful for those tough to level framed items that have crappy and/or off-center hangers. You'll wonder how you moved into a new place without it...

This stuff is what I call "one of the Essentials" for odd products you should have around. It can be used in so many ways: upright, things stay up; vertically, you can keep pictures flat or level, and keep items from swinging side to side. You can lose the shelf from the wall but your items will still be one the shelf. In fact, in that event, you shuld use another quake product to keep that shelf on the wall!

This product was the best thing for me. For years I kept my beautiful porcelain horses in a box for fear they might get broken. Since I used this product to secure them, I have no fear they will fall over.
