Product Description

Do you like apples? So does Quaker. That's why we've mixed the tart sweetness of apples & tangy cinnamon and blended the two with our wholesome Quaker Oats. There's an old saying about an apple a day and a doctor. We wonder what that doctor would have to say about an apple and Quaker Oats every day.

I love this Quaker Apples & Cinnamon oatmeal! I make mine with just a half cup of boiling water (never bothered with milk) and it tastes great. Real chunks of apple... just the right amount of cinnamon... and most importantly: it's just the right portion size.

It's so easy to start the day the unhealthy way with a big bowl of sugary cereal or a greasy fried plate of food. I find that one packet of oatmeal is just enough to get my morning metabolism going. I'm not hungry... but I'm not overly full, either. Just right.

Quick, Easy & Tasty.

I'm frequently on the go trying to make it to class or work or a meeting and sometimes I forget to make breakfast because I'm so busy. This just leads me to have a grumbling stomach later in the day or too tired to pay attention when it's really important. These oatmeal packets give me no excuse when it comes to having breakfast. I place around 1.5 - 2 packets in a thermos with some hot water and extra cinnamon (I have a sweet tooth) and I'm on my way. I sometimes add fruit slices as well. It super easy and best of all is that I'm not hungry until lunch. I also really like the apple and cinnamon product because there are tiny apple chunks in it, which add exceptional flavor to this seemingly bland meal. Lastly, as a New York City resident, Amazon's price cannot be beat. My local markets charge over $4.00 for one box of this oatmeal (when not on sale).

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This oatmeal has a pleasant apple and cinnamon flavor. I can actually smell the apple and the cinnamon when I open the packet, which is always a good sign, and the finished product had a good flavor too. I would advise using less water than the package recommends. I used the recommended amount and ended up with something akin to oatmeal soup. The recommended amount is 2/3 cup- I preferred the texture at under half a cup. One nice thing- the packages are made of a waxed paper, and can be used to add water- there's a fill line on the inside and everything. Even with less water, there's still no mistaking this for a non-instant oatmeal. It lacks the thickness and richness of traditional oatmeal. It's not bad for instant.

This cereal has a nice apple flavor. Its plenty sweet too. I like to add some plain oatmeal to the bowl to create more volume to fill me up and make it less sweet. One of my tricks to keep it from overflowing the bowl in the microwave is to let it stand in the water for a couple of minutes while I prepare my coffee. The water absorbs into the oatmeal. I then put it into the microwave for about a minute and its hot.

Our family lives off of oatmeal. Purchase from amazon because the price is great. Apples and Cinnamon is one of my favorite flavors. We usually eat 2 packs each every morning so we can through a box fast. The price of 4 boxes can't be beat and amazon always ship fast. Why go to the store when you can order it? Yummy!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
When I was a kid, we used to get the variety boxes of Quaker Instant Oatmeal. I was pretty much the only one eating them most of the time, and I'd start with the Maple flavor and then eat all the Apples and Cinnamon and then...I don't remember what else was in the box because they weren't as good as those two flavors. It had been years and I wondered if maybe Apples & Cinnamon Quaker Oats wouldn't taste as good to my adult palate, sort of like the way Twinkies or Apple Jacks taste a bit gross. The answer: nope. Still delicious after all these years. A nice comfort food that reminds me of childhood. (Two packets for me now though, please.) I don't want to be like my boyfriend, who spent over 20 years eating Quaker Instant Oatmeal six days a week for breakfast, but when I need something that's ready fast and can be eaten quickly, this seems like a decent choice. The ingredients are even pretty simple, especially compared to some of the fancier flavors, like Peaches and Cream.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Love oatmeal and usually make it from scratch, but this instant variety is a product with which I am very familiar. This specific flavor is one I ate almost daily for a couple of years in high school. I haven't tried it since and it doesn't taste quite the same, at least not the way I remember the flavor.

The oatmeal is definitely heavy on the sweet (twelve grams of sugar) and to my taste a bit light on the cinnamon. Also, although honey wasn't noted in the ingredients there was a bit of a honey flavor in the background which added some unexpected depth, but could be unwelcome for people who don't like honey. I found the quantity of apple pieces to be generous - there were some found in every bite.

Following the directions, I prepared the oatmeal by adding one-half cup of boiling water (milk may be substituted) and then waiting sixty seconds. The result was a little watery.

Then, I tested cooking the oatmeal in the microwave. The directions stated to add the packet to a bowl along with two-thirds cup of water (milk may be substituted.) For convenience, there is a marking on the paper oatmeal packet that presumably indicates two-thirds of a cup of water so there is no need to use another container to measure the water, but I found the marking to be off. It measured closer to a half a cup rather than two-thirds, so if relying on the packet it may be necessary to add a little more water/milk. Cooking time was given as one to two minutes. One and a half minutes of cooking resulted in a perfect bowl of oatmeal - not at all watery.

No question that oatmeal alone is a low-fat healthy food. If there is no time to spare and if the high sugar content and added chemicals (among them artificial flavors - and caramel color) present no problem, then this is a great option for a quick breakfast.
