The texture is very good--nice and creamy, with good chunks of dried cranberries, walnuts and apples.

Flavor Name: Apple Walnut Verified Purchase
I first bought the Cherry Pistacio from Meijer and really liked it but when I went back for more they were sold out of that flavor. I then tried the Berry and the Apple and liked those too. I went to two other stores but haven't been able to find it anywhere else. I was happy to find them at Amazon and ordered a dozen in each flavor including the Peach. I do have to say that at least for me, the cooking directions need tweaking. I add more water and increase the microwave time or it doesn't seem to be cooked enough and is too thick. Having said that, I think they taste great. They're not mushy and have lots of texture, not to mention the convenience of having it all in it's own bowl. Great to take to work since I'm always on the run. It's true that the price is a bit more from Amazon but at least I can find it when I run out so I'm okay with that.

On its face, this seems like a quasi healthy alternative for breakfast, but no. This is something I ate before adopting a healthier lifestyle. Now I pay attention to labels, and I encourage you to read the nutrition label before making your purchase. If it still reads okay with you, then great.

As to the actual taste, these are very sweet, especially if you add less water for a thicker consistency. They do keep you full for several hours, and hold you over.

Flavor Name: Apple Walnut Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I guess I'm actually saying it tastes too good to be healthy.

There is no denying that I loved diving into this for breakfast. It tastes wonderful! Problem is, this small cup of oatmeal has 290 calories, too many carbs from too much sugar and too much salt. This is a convenience food, and I have found that you pay--in more ways than one--for convenience. The sugar in this medley could have easily been reduced and it still would have tasted good. The nuts, the fruit, the sugar: It is glorious overkill.

So, considering the price, together with the calories and sugar, I would consider this an extravagance. I don't need extravagance for breakfast. I can combine two packets of plain instant oatmeal with some nuts, raisins and spices and still come out ahead calorie-wise.

Personally, I'm very content with my "Better Oats" flavors, especially the blueberry muffin flavor. It is "old fashioned style" oatmeal with flax seed. A packet comes in at half the calories of this one being reviewed. About two years ago I switched over to the "Better Oats" brand from Quaker. It doesn't look like Amazon carries it yet; too bad.

Tried the berry blend after seeing it on display in the grocery store. After trying it I went back and bought the remainder of them (10), and keep checking back for more. I LOVE them. they are sweet, but naturally tasting sweet from the berries - real whole blueberries, and pieces of raspberries and strawberries. I will continue to get these, I make them part of my healthy, low sodium diet - try and you will probably like!!

Flavor Name: Cherry Pistachio
I have found that although the calorie count may be a bit high for such a small package, the Real Medley oatmeals are filling enough that I can have this for breakfast, a very light lunch and feel satisfied. I tried making the oatmeal both with the microwave and with boiling water - the boiling water (adding a bit more above the dark line) and stirring well gives the best result.
I have seen elsewhere where reviewers have questioned the mysterious numbers listed as the last ingredient. Honestly, I never noticed it. Then I went and looked at my other containers of Real Medleys Oatmeal and, sure enough, the Peach flavor also has a number listed! What could this mysterious ingredient be?
So I wrote to Post/Quaker Oats and asked them (and hoped they didn't tell me it was Soylent Green!!). Here's the answer I got the next day:
"That number, which will vary on all of our products, relates to our recipe/formula. It's our formula and version number for that particular product. We put that information on all of our Quaker products. If you have any other Quaker products in your home, take a look and you'll see that listed at the end of the ingredients." - Margie, Quaker Consumer Relations
I've noticed the price has come down in local stores but Amazon still gets points for freshest product!

Flavor Name: Apple Walnut
I tried Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal in Apple Walnut flavor. It was easy to make but I didn't really care for the flavor. It tasted kind of plain and lacked flavor. I did like the nutty chunks in it and the apple pieces though. I would have enjoyed if there were more of those :)

Flavor Name: Apple Walnut
I love oatmeal and I usually eat the Archer Farms organic brand from Target. Thought I'd give these a go, but it was nasty. I couldn't make myself choke down the whole carton. This was the second flavor I tried -- the first was the Cherry Pistachio, which was even worse and gave me a stomach ache for the rest of the day.

I thought the ingredients sounded promising: WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS, MULTI GRAIN BLEND (WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS, ROLLED BARLEY, WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED RYE), DRIED SWEETENED APPLES (APPLES, SUGAR), DRIED SWEETENED CRANBERRIES (CRANBERRIES, SUGAR), WALNUTS COATED WITH ROSEMARY EXTRACT, BROWN SUGAR, DEHYDRATED APPLES (APPLES, SUGAR, FRUCTOSE, CINNAMON, MALIC ACID, SODIUM SULFITE FOR COLOR RETENTION), WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED WHEAT, SALT, CINNAMON, NATURAL FLAVOR.

Part of the problem, for me, was that they're just too sweet. But part of the problem was also that they had a "weird" aftertaste. Kind of metallic and "off." I don't know how else to describe it. Something that doesn't taste like oatmeal or fruit or nuts. Maybe it's from the "natural flavors"?

Of course, individual experiences will vary from mine. But I think I'll stick with the old-fashioned way. It's a lot cheaper and healthier to just make regular oatmeal and add your own "flavors" -- fruit, nuts, maple syrup, whatever -- and it won't leave a bunch of little cartons to recycle or go in the landfill.
