It does what I wanted to do. It's well made. I can see now that I own it that nothing of this kind can have the strength and at the same time fit all ladders equally well. You should understand before you buy that the design is meant for ladders at a fairly sharp pitch - that is, the base of the ladder has to be reasonably close to the wall. Otherwise the horizontal bars that support the planking cannot be adjusted anywhere near level. That's fine, probably as it should be but if your ladder is a bit on the long side you can't compensate by moving the base of the ladder away from the wall. The only cheaper units I've seen only hook over two rungs and I don't think I'd feel safe with that.
