The ATC version of the MB-D11 was a perfect fit for my D7000! I had no problems attaching it to the camera and it felt great. Other brands all said you should spend the extra money and get the Nikon made grip because all others felt cheap and would break easy. With this ATC model, it feels heavy duty and matches the look of my camera. I would recommend this to any one looking to do portait photography.

I'm thinking what can you possibly get for less than $50 that will work when Nikon sells the same product for hundreds? Well, I'll tell you what you get...great value. I figured I could send this back if it failed to deliver (Amazon is good about returns) so what did I have to loose. After putting a battery in the unit and connecting it (took under 2 minutes total including reading the instructions), I found this to be a very good product. The finish is clean, it feels solid, the response is good, and the price is right. Perhaps if I was a pro and shot portrait all day long, I might have gone for the Nikon. But I'm not, I'm an very serious amateur who has spent a lot on gear. So I wanted something that would work for my needs without breaking the bank. This product works! I highly recommend it.

I don't afford to buy original MB-D11 so after a detailed research and reading all reviews I purchased this item from Amazon in May 2012. I am reviewing it today in December 2012 after using this product in different conditions.
Pros:
- Closest substitute to the original MB-D11
- Fits perfectly with your camera
- Feels great in hand
- All buttons and menus work the way they are supposed to work

Only Con:
- It is unreliable.

Unreliability Explained:
I am using 6 Sanyo enloope batteries to power it up. There is an option in Nikon D7000 to set priority of battery usage i.e I can set Nikon battery pack to consume first and MB-D11 after it or vice-e-versa. I prefer to use MB-D11 first and internal battery after that so I have used that settings BUT my camera does not detect MB-D11 unless internal battery is consumed up to 50% or more And MB-D11 is sometimes not detected at all even after the internal battery is drained up to 80%.

Conclusion:
If you are purchasing this product as a GRIP then Go Ahead!! But if you are planning to rely on it as an additional battery pack then you are taking a risk. I am happy with this product because I mainly use it as a vertical grip to rotate my camera.

I ordered this as when there was only 1 review. I knew it was a risk since I ordered it. The grip shipped really fast, got it 3 days after placing the order. The grip itself looks like it was made by Nikon, but the feel of it is where you can tell it's cheap. Also when mounted on a tripod, the weight of anything attached bends the grip resulting a miss-composed image, since it bends slightly down. Also, I must have gotten a bad copy. The front dial(aperture dial)does not work, everything else does. I have tried contacting the seller to return the item. They responded a couple days later that they sent a return package for me to ship it back. It's been just over a week and no package or "return label" has arrived. Looks like I am in for a struggle.

I had to have a battery grip for my D7000 but didn't want to pay Nikon's outrageous price. After reading reviews and doing some homework I ended up buying the ATC. Once it arrived it worked just as stated. The command and sub command dials worked as they should as well as everything else.

Since then the grip has stayed on the D7000 for the majority of it's life. It's been in scorching hot weather as well as freezing temperatures, from dry desert winds to east coast summer rain fall, and it is still in one piece and works flawlessly.

Great grip for a great price!

The sub command dial does not function properly, if it did I would be happy with it, but it doesn't so I'm not.

Giving this product 4 stars because it works as advertised. Would give 5 stars if the build quality was better. The dials are not reversed on this unit and function exactly like official Nikon MB-D11.

Please note that for the cost of this item you get what you pay for. Even though the plastic/rubber looks very close to Nikon's, it has a more plasticy hollow thin sound. The dials/buttons also have a different tactile feedback then the ones on the camera. The lock wheel has a bit of play once the unit is attached (locked) to the camera body and does rattle a little bit.

Other then the mediocre build quality, everything on this product works as expected.

I would not recommend this to anyone. it went bad after a month of use. once you have the grip on the SLR with the additional battery, the DSL camera wont turn on.
