5.0 out of 5 stars Actually works
I had four small hygrometers that gave four different readings, so I tried this kit. Now they give me the identical readings.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too small
The zip bag is too small resulting in my inability to use the product. Be aware that the bag is made for the smallest hygrometers. I have a normal size scientific hygrometer which must be around 3 inches wide and it doesn't fit. I would have liked it if that was actually advertised before you buy. I might be able to use the humidity packet inside a larger zip bag, but I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, August 30, 2008
This review is from: Boveda One-Step Calibration Kit (Kitchen)
This is the perfect tool if your looking for a cheap way to calibrate your digital hygrometer. Make sure you let your hygrometer sit in the kit for 24-36 hours.

Worked great and I would definitely recommend it! 5*

3.0 out of 5 stars Too small, August 27, 2010

The zip bag is too small resulting in my inability to use the product. Be aware that the bag is made for the smallest hygrometers. I have a normal size scientific hygrometer which must be around 3 inches wide and it doesn't fit. I would have liked it if that was actually advertised before you buy. I might be able to use the humidity packet inside a larger zip bag, but I have no guarantee as to the accurate calibration if I don't use the standard size bag.

For rating Nazis: before you bash my rating of 3 stars, I don't have a choice, Amazon would not let me leave a comment-only rating. I will not give it 5 stars based on my inability to test, but I will not kill the ratings either with a 1 star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Accurate, December 12, 2008

You could just mix up a batch of salt and distilled water and test your Hygrometer via any of the internet sites that have instructions, but WHY?

This product is simple, accurate, and idiot proof.
Just plop your Hygrometer into the zip-lock bag, leave for a day, (adjust and retest if you can) and away you go! Good for up to 3 months, so you can test as many Hygrometers as you want to with one kit.

Boveda is a time-tested brand. Museums have used their kits to calibrate equipment.
Really you can't go wrong here. Highly Recommended.
The seller was timely and almost perfect (they forgot the key to my humidor)

This was well worth getting at the same time as the digital hygrometer. The instructions were good and it was easy to calibrate my hygrometer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Little Bit Of Science, October 28, 2009

We bought calibration bag with an analog hydrometer and it did exactly what it said it would do. It takes 48 hours to be accurate, but we could see that our hydrometer was off by a few percentage points. Not a big deal for us, as we're just trying to keep mold out of our house, but if you're storing cigars, this would be a necessity. Plus, if I am remembering correctly, it's good for a couple of years. It's inexpensive and it does exactly what it says it will do!

5.0 out of 5 stars hygrometer calibration, July 4, 2009
This review is from: Boveda One-Step Calibration Kit (Kitchen)
Simple and convenient. You just put your hygrometer in the bag, zip it up and wait for 48 hours. Then you adjust your hygrometer or note the correction to apply if you don't have an adjustable hygrometer.

5.0 out of 5 stars works perfectly, October 19, 2009

This product worked just as advertised. Put the hygrometer in the bag, close it (zip-lock type bag), and let it sit for 36 hours and the calibration will be complete. I bought the Caliber III digital hygrometer and when I checked it at the 24 hour point, it read precisely the 75% humidity that this bag produces. I let it sit in the bag for the remainder of the "36 hour" time period, but nothing changed, it still read 75% humidity. That's a testament to both the calibration pack/bag, and the hygrometer.

1.0 out of 5 stars works, but you can make one for a dime, December 28, 2011
This review is from: Boveda One-Step Calibration Kit (Kitchen)
If you want to calibrate a hygrometer for use near 75% relative humidity this will get the job done. However, if you take any decent ziplock bag and placed a modest amount of damp table salt in it you would get the same result at a fraction of the cost of this product. Some reviewers have complained the bag is too small but a bigger ziplock bag can be used if needed. It is useful to note that hygrometer calibration is a nonlinear task, so if your hygrometer is off by 2% at 75.5% RH this does not mean it is off by 2% at 40% RH. (If you calibrate several hygrometers of the same design you will get good agreement between them over a wide range, but they won't have the accuracy that this precision would suggest for RH far from 75%.) If you want a hygrometer for use in measuring how well your home humidifier is working you might want to use a potassium carbonate salt test, which allows one to calibrate at 43% RH, or a magnesium chloride salt test, which allows one to calibrate at an RH of 33%.

5.0 out of 5 stars A convenient method to calibrate the HygroSet II, May 23, 2010

This review is from: Boveda One-Step Calibration Kit (Kitchen)
This simple product is nothing more than a calibrated humidity packet inside a zip-lock style plastic bag. It is a simple and accurate way to calibrate the HygroSet II Adjustable Round Digital Hygrometer. You simply place the HygroSet II in the bag and seal it and wait about a 24-36 hours for the readings to stabilize before adjusting the HygroSet II calibration dial. Once initially opened, the Boveda kit can be used for up to 3 months for verfying or further adjusting the calibration. Past 3 months, you should use a new Boveda kit. For most people, probably an initial calibration is all that is ever needed. If you feel you need more frequent calibrations, consider the Boveda kit as a consumable item and you should use a new one for calibration every 6 - 12 months (probably overkill for most people). This is a nice product to ensure good accuracy with the HygroSet II. I recommend it.
